I just got back from a vacation in the Carolinas, and had a chance to see a game in Myrtle Beach, the Pelicans. I thought the stadium was very nice, but I have a few complaints about the other aspects of the environment there. First of all, it is not near an interstate, so I took the main route, Rte 17, to get there, and there are no signs from 17 indicating this way to CFF. Once I made the turn off 17 to get to the game, there were no signs near the street indicating which way to get to parking for the stadium. When I got to the box office, I discovered that they raise ticket prices for day of game purchasers. For each of the 5 seating areas and accompanying prices, they have one price for advance buyers and a higher price if you buy it the day of the game. Granted, the increase was only a buck, but it didnt sit well with me. I have been to several other stadiums, and have never seen higher prices for day of game purchases. Also I, on many occasions, couldnt understand the PA announcer and what he was saying. Finally, when I went to get some chow, I ordered 2 hot dogs, and they were the worst ballpark hot dogs I have ever had in my life. So all in all, would I go back there again? Maybe, but only to see the Nationals' affiliate Potomac play there. (They werent playing there this time.) I grade the Pelicans experience a C.

I actually saw a game there too while I was on vacation, but it was a while ago and I don't really remember much. I do remember that if the cleanup hitter on the other team struck out, everyone at the game got free carvel ice cream. He struck out twice. In between innings I went to the carvel stand at the stadium to get my free ice cream, but the guy told me that we didn't get it there and told me the name of some city to get it at. Not being from the area, I asked someone where that city was and he said it was 30 miles away. Overall I don't remember having too bad a time at the game, but I don't understand why they couldn't just give the free ice cream out at the carvel stand right inside the ballpark.
