Despite going into the break being swept in 3 games at home by the Diamondbacks, the Rockies have had a good first half. They are one game over .500 (44-43) including a 20-19 road record, and only 3.5 games behind the NL West leading Padres.
This is only the (3rd? 4th?) time in Rockies history that they have been over .500 going into the second half.
The Rockies pitching staff has posted 7 seven shutouts already this season -- the Rockies record for a full season is 8. Their starters are in the top 5 in innings pitched in the league, and the bullpen is much improved as well with the addition of Ray King and Jose Mesa and the development of Ramon Ramirez.
The entire pitching staff has posted this line:
CG SHO ERA SO BB AVG
3 7 4.27 507 290 .269
For the 2005 season, they posted this line:
CG SHO ERA SO BB AVG
4 1 5.14 981 604 not available
Go Rockies!
