Trouble in TRIBEDOM

What a difference a year makes...If you were to tell me at the end of last season, that the TRIBE would be under .500, close to 20 games behind both the ChiSox & Tigers, I would have rollled me eyes...But man, what a meltdown....I didn't think losing Millwood, was gonna hurt the Indians, and
I didn't think JJ ( since departed ) was the answer..and wick was questionable
but any additional help could come from trades, or at Buffalo....

But sadly, something happened...do you think the team simply overplayed
last season ? or a streak of bad luck this year ? do you think SHAPIRO
will start dumping certain players come the end of july ? and is WEDGE
gonna take the fall for this season's dismal showing ?

Boone and Wickman would be prime candidates for a salary dump. Marte will be ready by next year, and Wicky won't be back anyway. As for the core and the rotation, I believe they should keep things as they are. I was reading an interesting article, in regards to how quite a few organizations on the cusp of a successful run, have a good year, take a step backwards for a season, then "take off". Let's just hope that's the case here. I wouldn't mind moving Broussard while his stock is up. Groom Victor to play first, with Shoppach behind the dish next year.

The Tribe has had the misfortune to time their resurrection with the advent (almost from nowhere) of two juggernaut franchises in their division. The pitching hasn't quite developed as expected (shades of mid-90's). Unless the Tribe can round up some serious pitching they may never contend with the Sox and Tigers.

Unless the fans manifest considerable dissatisfaction with Wedge I would imagine he will survive.

The Tribe wasn't that good last season. They had injury-free pitching and beat up on the pathetic NL-West in inter-league play. That was it.

We lost Howry and Riske (although no one misses Riske), and the bullpen went from best to nearly worst in one season.

There is no excuse for the unearned runs we give up every day. You can't blame Wedge for that, but you can blame him for a lot of other things.

Remember that Twins game with Hunter on third, one out, score tied, and he didn't bring the outfielders in? That is a managerial error that even Cholly wouldn't have made.
