Last week, the Cubs signed 16 (or 17 depending on the source) year old 6'3" right handed Venezuelan pitcher Larry Suarez.
Farm director Oneri Fleita believes the Cubs signed "the top pitcher out of Latin America."
Seems like Venezuela has been a recent hot spot for Cubs scouting, so maybe Suarez can join his fellow Venezuelan, Carlos Zambrano, in the Cubs rotation in a few years.

And he also cost us .85 million outbidding several other teams for his services. He is indeed the best pitcher in Latin America, and ranks in the top 10 in terms of prospects out of Latin America.

Bob, ya think 4-5 years before we could see him in the Bigs?

I think within 6 years is more realistic, he's 16/17, and you never want to burn out young kids arms too early.

He doesn't burn them out, for every Wood or Prior that is linked to Dusty there is a Zambrano or Livan Hernandez.
