This from a nostalgicist for old ballparks:

Having been there only twice (the last time in 1959), I later heard that the Phils had to leave Connie Mack because the area got too dangerous by 1964 or so.

True?

Who has some memories of those days?

I was there in 64 and later. I was at the last Saturday afternoon game in Connie Mack. It was a bad area then but going to the games was not too bad. Walk with the crowd and you can stay safe.
Just like Yankee Stadium is now, not a good place to be when there is no game.

i graduated from Dobbins highschool at 22nd and lehigh, and lived at 29th and lehigh. the area was alright but let's keep it real. it was a predominately african-american nieghborhood by 1964, and sad to say, it was a poor part of town. plus the city was in the throws of gangs everywhere.
