Good call. I was thinking something like this would be a good idea. I like that Burnett already leads the team in shutouts.

Defense Counts!

Hmmm

The Jays are first in hits and BA, but only 5th in runs ... does this indicate a lack of clutch hitting (they seem to have plenty of power)?

You hit the nail on thwe head. It also hurts that Glaus, Wells, and Hillenbrand have all been producing poorly the last month and a half.

I'll have to do the second part later because whenever I go to team stats just a whole bunch of words and numbers show up.

Hey guys..
I have a stat package over at the website (link in signature) that calculates all the advanced statistics for the Blue Jay batters. This could be useful to you guys in evaluation and what not. There's also a four part article about why we finished second and not first with statistical analysis.

oh its good to see that the Jays realyl did well in stats this season to bad they arent in the National league or else they would have finished in first place!!

Lovin' the Saskwatch representi ng on the Jays board. Puttin' the Ontarians (?) to shame! :clapping BTW, just noticed while looking over thoe stats, the Jays lost 2 of their top 3 game appearance leaders in Schoenweis and Speier. . I'm a little curious to see if one or two guys will step up to fill the void, or if it will be more of a comitee thing.

i can count the number of manitobians on the board - 1 is the loneliest number of all

you bring up a good point chris, those are alot of apperances by schoneweis and spirer that younger guys are going to have to fill. hopefully someone can step up.

With Scott and Justin gone we can still rely on minor leaguers like Fransico Rosario who I thought looked great last year. If Marcum isn't a starter for the Jays next year he can be good in the bullpen, and McGowen......

I think that League and Accardo will be able to fill Speier's role, and that Schoenweis' appearances will be absorbed by the rest of the guys that we have.

Well I think we have our answer. Janssen is eating up Speier's innings and Downs taking over for Schoenweis (while being more effective)! Also if you look Schoenweiss has been brutal this year (5.09 ERA) and Speier pitched today for the first time since April 30th!

It was good to see League back in uniform today. Sometimes he makes me nervous, but once he is healthy he will be a major asset.

stats can't point out that feeling in reliever. i felt so safe with spirer coming in to pitch even though he stats maybe weren't all that. jansenn has just officially gotten the "i feel safe with him in the ballgame" label. of course nothing can trumph the miguel "is he going to blow it with walks or homeruns this time around" batista

Jansenn gives me that sense of comfort too. Accardo makes me tremble sometimes.
