when i open a thread i except to see an opinion of a bbf member - their point of view or an exchange of facts
i don't understand why someone would start a thread based solely on a link to a newspaper article or a reprint of the article itself - what they are saying is that they are too lazy to say anything on the matter itself or to even bother leading a discussion - in other words they shouldn't even start a thread they are not willing to put any work into
what is the point? everyone here is capable of opening a newspaper

Sometimes people just want other people to read it and get their opinions on it.

And it does not always make sense for me to go searching through the Chicago, New York, and Seattle Newspapers all for one article - we can have one person post it here - I have no problem with it.

okay, but why copy an entire book review? either you're offering an opinion of a book or you're not - seems to me if you started such a thread you would have an opinion rather than blind obedience to another's opinions

All depends. If there's breaking news on the BALCO scandal, I'm not too sure that much background info is required from the thread starter.
On another board, I've seen things like posts about player deaths being removed because the thread starter didn't do more than post a link. To me, that was taking it too far, as this was sharing things that would've been news to someone else.
Which situations would you like to know more about the topic that the thread starter didn't put enough effort into it, to suit your liking?
As mentioned, not everyone reads every single paper around the country, so when added to limited time on some people's part, a link and a few words may be all that the person is able to do at the time.

I have read many intersting articles that I probably wouldn't have if someone else didn't post a link.I really don't see a problem with it.
