I was watching Baseball tonight last night and Buster Olney said he thought the Rays were going to be big players in some upcoming major trades. He feels the trading of Gathright has opened things up. Aubrey Huff, Julio Lugo were the two names mentioned, and of course that is nothing new. Right now I am surprised about Lugo. With Uptons recent legal problems and his ongoing defensive shortcomings, who would play shortstop? Huff is finally hitting and has gotten hus value back up. Wigginton can step in there with no problem. But I dont know who would play short. Perez is not the solution.

Crawford was being mentioned earlier, but not most recently. I don't believe the Rays could get anything near Crawfords value in return. A lot of us Rays fans aer waiting to see what management does . The new ownership group promised that they would do their best to keep key players. I guess we will find out.

I don't think they will trade Crawford. He is becoming the face of the franchise and more importantly, he wants to be here. I can't see Lugo being traded. As was said, there would be no one to play short. Huff however, yeah, I'd trade him in a hearbeat for some youngsters. Huff kills us the first half of every season.

Crawford is the face of the franchise and to trade him would be a slap in the face to all Rays fans.
