I was at the game yesterday, and Brad Hawpe made a great sliding play on the very first batter of the game, Jason Kendall, but dropped the ball and it was ruled a hit.
What does that have to do with pitching? It was the only hit Jason Jennings gave up in the 6 innings he worked! While he was missing with some pitches (walked 4-5 guys), he was consistently missing down in the dirt, not up over the plate.
Add to that the awesome game that Kim suprisingly had the day before, and with Francis, Cook, JJ, and Fogg who has been fairly steady, the Rockies pitching is pretty good.
The division top to bottom is 1.5 games right now, so the Rockies have a good shot at this thing if the Dodgers don't pull away!
