If Pat Gillick's smart he'll fire Uncle Charlie right now while the Mets are still somewhat close..... He's lost the players respect, if he ever had it, half the time he doesnt know what's going on, and he's just plain stupid.
Ex: Starting Abraham Nunez ever...he's batting .167 send him down or dont play him until he shows he can hit in practice, simulated games, or the minor.
Charlie Manuel needs to go, they should have hired Leyland when they had the chance, but for some reason they decided to sign this old foagie who is a complete MORON! Please Pat, get this guy out of here.

since this post..has there been any improvement with the Phils ?
if not, what is Gillick waiting for ? unless Manuel has the GM's ear..
Don't blame Gillick for not grabbing LEYLAND..( Thank you LORD !) nope,
us tiger fans thank ED WADE, every day for letting us HIRE Jimmie LEYLAND!
So much for his 'burnout' in 1999, with the Rockies...he got rested, his
head straight,and baseball juices flowing...and he's doing a monster
job with the TIGERS....who only won 70 games , last season, under
Alan Trammel...they are on a pace to win 111 games....
Manuel, is one of those guys, who's better as a coach...rather than
skipper....he didn't exactly pilot the TRIBE to greatness-when he was
the mgr...
Ridding Manual now won't really do much for the team, nor would it for a new skipper. Bringing in somebody into this clusterfuck of a team right now may be discouraging. The best bet is to get rid of Manual at the end of the season, and continue to stay positive for next year.

Absolutely correct. There's no point to sending Unclue (LOL, I accidentally typed Unclue instead of Uncle- seems to fit!) Charlie packing now, except to bring the new blood in and let him get planted. Unfortunately Jim Leyland is already taken....

The longer the Phillies don't fire Manuel, the more they will be tempted to keep him. This organization is perverse enough and dumb enough to do just that. Losing is a way of life for the Phillies, and Manuel fits in with their lifestyle.

The more someone wants to fire the more likely they are to have no clue as to whom they can get to take his place. The time to whack Manuel is after the season. With any luck Buddy Bell will be available for you.

I wouldn't be too harsh with Bell..as he's never had any decent teams to
skipper..his Tiger teams were worst than the current Royals, and the
Rockies weren't too great as well..Still, Bell ain't no einstein..I guess
guys like Buddy and Charlie are better coaches, than skippers..
Charlie didn't do squat with his Indians tenure..eventually, getting
fired....Can't believe then GM Wade CHOSE Charlie over LEYLAND...
Then again, The Pirates could have re hired Leyland as well, but decided
to go with Jim Tracey....But hiring Charlie over Leyland, has got to go
down as one of the classic bone head choices...
