Because if he isn't they should sign him a linebacker right now.
Some fan ran on the feild and slid into home and went to make a getaway and the Bat Boy de-cleated him.
LOL the best is Big Papi's expresion as he sees the tackle in real time.

Wow!!! When did that happen? The grin on the bat boy's face at the end of the clip is classic.

Has anyone ever seen the top 10 baseball fights by ESPN thats on youtube.com? Theres some really funny ones in there. There's one where the batter kicks the catcher after he gets hit with a pitch.

I'd seem something like that sometime ago (perhaps 1990-1996). I think he just kicked him in the chest, then proceeded towards the mound.
Hey, if the batboy had been a running back, not a linebacker, he could've spiked the ball. I'm not too sure the wayward fan would've been too pleased though. :)

I remember the one where Mo Vaughn took out George Bell (I think it was) who was running towards the mound. Mo comes out of nowhere from first base and bowls him over. How'd you like to be hit by a charging Mo? :ughh

Too bad it was made in '02, so they couldn't get 'Tek's bear claw on A-Rod! And where's the one with Graig Nettles attacking my all-time favorite player, the Spaceman? Probably number 10. Chan Ho Park's one was awesome, too.

His name was Israel Alcantara, he was in AAA with the Red Sox in 2001 when that happened.

From what I understand, he was the batboy for the Boston dugout, but employed by the Twins or the Metrodome or whatever. A guy from the Twin Cities, not with the Red Sox.

You are correct. He is from MN and is employed by the Metrodome to work as a bat boy for the opposing club. He was a high school wrestler and played rugby in college. The title "bat boy" is misleading however. The guy is in his mid 20s.

That guy is in his mid 20's?! and he played rugby in college?! he barely looks like he has hit puberty!
I have never paid much attention to batboys and they way they are handles. Is it common practice for the home team to provide batboys for the opposing team? if so who provides the uniform?
Here are a couple of articles about it.
