Why is Seth McClung still in the starting rotation, much less still in the major leagues? Are our other options that bad that he still gets handed the ball every 5 days? He has the stuff in his arm, it's what's between his ears that causes his problems. No mental toughness, and last night, no location. You can't get by in this league with only 2 pitches. They'll sit on your fastball and crush it. Please Joe, give someone else a chance!!

I agree, I dunno why they let that guy start. I'd put Edwin Jackson ahead of him on my pitching depth-chart.

I'd put just about anyone from the Durham starting rotation ahead of McClung.
I may be wrong but it appears to me that McClung is ok for 3 or 4 innings and then falls apart. I'd try him in middle relief. Maybe in that role he can gain some confidence.

2-10 now after his latest meltdown. Cmon Joe, do what's best for the team, and get him outta there!:grouchy

It would seem a trip to the minors would be good for him. However with the way things have been in Durham, perhaps some middle relief would be the best option right now.

Well the Rays have finally sent Seth McClung down to AAA Durham, a move long over due. The Rays said McClung would work out of the bullpen in Durham. He has good stuff, but the second and third time through the lineup he has a meltdown. Maybe his role will be as a setup man.

I heard he went down there to learn how to be a closer. He's got the stuff in his arm, but I don't think he has the mental makeup to be a closer. A closer needs to forget what he did yesterday, good or bad, and be ready to do it again today. McClung dwells on his mistakes, then repeats them the next time out. Not a good pattern in being a successful pitcher. :crazy

I agree with you about the closer mentality. McClung , with his stuff would probably be an ideal setup man. That is something the Rays have lacked.
