I've filmed my son with a handycam and were set up in the box good, have tension in the shoulders and are turning pretty good. The flaw I see is in the load. He is turning his hands and shoulder back which on film shows the bat on the other side of the head which I feel may make the swing longer. Any advise on correcting. I'm trying to get him to stay more square and load down w/o turning. What do you think ?

many of the mlb clips on siggy's site show the bat pointed behing the head at launch.

Depends where he makes ball contact. If he lets the ball come to him he needs the barrel back . From 1st base the sweet spot should be aligned with the center of his spine.

Go the next step and post the clip. It wll help considerably w.r.t. evaluating the swing.

One thing you could do is start the bat resting on his shoulder until the pitcher begins his move to the plate. At this point raise the hands off the shoulder keeping the bat back should keep everything relatively square.

I do that to. it personally gives me more momentum at the ball. I just swing once I read the pitch. But as long he's hitting don't worry.
