I'm working with some catchers this summer and wondered if there is something with posture that makes a catcher throw better ? I've been working the posture with my hitters and was looking for good advise to help catchers. Arm strengthening exercises, drills, warmup etc. will all help. I'm knowledgeable but just looking to always be better.

The vertical load between the upper and lower body is critical to a catchers throwing ability.

If one can learn to load horizontally while maintaining the vertical load then unload all at once, or in sequence I guess, you'll maximize your ability.

If they are jump pivoting make sure they are able to maintain the vertical load throughout the jump pivot.

I believe I understand what your saying. If you or anyone can show a clip that would help as well. Thanks

I believe I understand what your saying. If you or anyone can show a clip that would help as well. Thanks There's a thread about two months back on catchers throwing. It has a side-by-side clip with a veteran stud catcher throwing. Ivan Rodriguez is also pictured. There are some descriptions in that thread.

Try pm'ing Catchingcoach. He runs a catcher's coaching facility in New Hampshire....
