Simon and Brandon went to grade school together. Played little league together for all their years. Simon and Brandon were the pitchers on their teams. Simon could always hit. Brandon never could. Simon has not had an ounce of instruction.
This is him swinging in his very first fastpitch game.
In his second fast pitch game he hit a home run. Home runs are very rare in our league. Unfortunately, I was putting on catching equipment when he hit it. So, no video. He's at best a small fire plug. Short stocky. Maybe 5'5" tall. A good shortstop. Has always hit.

Why don't you tell the crowd why he popped that ball up?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this looks like a textbook example of what I mean by "sliding under the ball" due to overstriding.
One of my 11Us did this continually last year (e.g. strode forward too much which dropped the plane of the bat and led to lots of weak pop-ups). It's still a problem with a few of my 6U's and I fix it by tell them to spread their feet out and not stride.
Yes, I know that may cost them some power, but it keeps them from inadvertently dropping the plane of the swing.

He's dropping his head too much.

My first guess would be the rise ball which he had never seen before this at bat.
Look at the catchers glove.

My first guess would be that he's pushing with the top hand/arms, hits the ball pretty far out front. Me thinks that might be what prompted HG's question, inasmuch as it was hotly debated in his swing thread recently. I also think he has a least a hint of *hip slide if not a bit more.
I’m not sure about this talk about the head moving and such with this player. He looks to do a nice job of loading the pelvic area and carries it out/sits to hit fairly well*.
Maybe it all came togother for him on the dinger swing.
