I agree with Bronxbombers and I'll tell you why, Carl Crawford is the heart, soul, speed, and 3rd piston in the Devil Rays' engine. Unless the going-to team gives him a contract extension with the trade, there is no trading "Speedster" Carl Crawford

It was in the LA Times that the D Rys will be getting Ervin Santana in return.......Tampa Bay has a stable of young OF'S but their pitching is weak so that may be the reason why they are looking into this
These are all from the LA Times? It's unclear where these are coming from.

I've been hearing for weeks on ESPN insider that the Nats will be having a firesale come July.
Last I heard the Dodgers were interested in Carl Crawford too. (D-rays would be fools to trade Crawford, one of the best leadoffs in the majors and the best positional player on the Rays (close second is Gomes of course;) ) I think they need to trade a couple guys for some bullpen help, which they need more than starters, given thier starters arent amazing, or even solid enough enough to label good as a whole, but they are alright. But thier pen is just plain bad.

There is no way the rays trade carl crawford for ervin santana. It would have to involve Bradon Wood and possibly another top prospect to get a young cheapish Crawford

And Greg Maddux to the Dodgers??
That has been around for a week. Maddux is probably the Dodgers4th or 5th choice.

Here is a piece of the article
Do they keep Jered in a rotation that has provided 13 quality starts (six innings or more, three earned runs or less) in the last 15 games, and trade Jeff Weaver, who has been linked to rumors with Toronto, or send him to the bullpen? There has also been speculation of a deal that would send Ervin Santana to the Devil Rays for Crawford.- LA TIMES

Yeah, but at least is probable that Maddux wont finish the year in Chicago.

I know Maddux has the desire to play on the West Coast so the Dodgers do make sense. But will the Dodgers give up enough to trade for him?

Unless they're desperate, but I think other teams will be interested in Maddux as well.

It's safe to say Reggie Sanders won't be with KC by the end of the season...I see him going back to St. Louis.

edit: This is my speculation, not a rumor...unless I just started a rumor. :laugh

I have to think the Brewers will try to move Geoff Jenkins and use the money saved from his contract to extend Carlos Lee. I can't see losing Carlos. It would really hurt that club a lot. Jenkins? Not so much. He'd be a nice fit replacing Sheffield with that short porch in right.
Plus, I wouldn't have to look at that god-awful uppercut swing anymore.
And, my oldest daughter would be ecstatic that her favorite player (Lee) isn't traded. Gawd...I don't want to have to explain that to her.

I heard about the Nats firesale too. The Learners want to rebuild the organization. But, who knows now with Soriano playing like he is....
