Ok, I know Sammy trusts Todd Williams...and is uncomfortable with young guys. But, Todd Williams has now blown 3 leads in his last three games. Can someone tell me what he sees in this guy?

Please? Before I go nuts....

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Daniel Cabrera's 50 walks are the most over a pitcher's first 10 starts of a season since Tim Wakefield had 51 in 1993. No pitcher has had that many walks in so few innings over his first 10 starts since Bobby Witt had 53 walks in 50 innings in 1986.

He's a wiley, crafty veteran that will be a role model for the "wet behind the ears" rookies.

Williams is great in the bullpen. Next time you go to a game, watch him warm up. He's awesome!

So, Loewen starts against Hallady (3rd Cy Young pitcher)...then if no rainouts or anything...he'll start against Glavine at the Mets (4th Cy Young pitcher). The kid can't catch a break!

It will be good for his confidence if he can beat Halladay. We'll see tomorrow!

Two rival executives interpreted the Orioles' promotion of Triple-A pitching coach Larry McCall to bullpen coach as an indication that the team is not completely satisfied with new pitching coach Leo Mazzone.

Mike Flanagan, the Orioles' executive vice president, told the Washington Post that the team hired McCall because of his pitching background and familiarity with several of the club's younger pitchers.

Mazzone shouldn't need the help, considering that his $450,000 salary is the second-highest among major-league pitching coaches. But the Royals are the only club with a worse team ERA than the Orioles.

Yeah the Orioles always seem to have problem with pitching. Kris Benson has been all that ballclub can ask for, Daniel Cabrera and Rodrigo Lopez have been up and down, and so has Erik Bedard.

They are gonna have to try and get another starting pitching, why not Steve Trachsel from the Mets or even Tim Hudson.

The old Oriole tradition of pitching and defense has been gone for a long time. We do need another Benson-like pitcher but at what expense? Do we even have what it might take, outside of free agency,to aquire such a pitcher? We have almost 6 weeks before the trading deadline ends. Wer'e all anxiously watching.

agreed. we got some time.

We need to trade:
Rodrigo Lopez - CORNERSTONE PROSPECTS PLEASE
Todd Williams

A lot of people are inquiring about Bedard and Cabrera, but they ain't going nowheres!

I agree. Bedard and Cabrera have to be untouchable at this time. If we can get something decent for Rodrigo,I'm all for it!

Loewen gives up a Grand Slam...

But you know what, that Grand Slam came on Bought a HBP by Marrero and really bad 1-2 pitch to Beltran.

Loewen threw the ball in absolute anger.

GET 'EM BOYS!!!!! AND I MEAN TEAR THE METS APART!!! TIME FOR A REALLY LARGE INNING!!!!

Loewen pitched well through 4.2 and may have earned himself another start. There's plenty of time left for a rally. The Nats did it yesterady and the O's can today. Hopefully,Chris "Slim" Britton and the pen can hold the Mets. A sweep would be great!

I'm sorry, but Eli Marrero bought that HBP.

He said it hit his arm, That wasn't right, it missed.

I have the Nats on TV and the O's on ESPN.com Gameday. Did Marrero just get brushed?

Britton looks weak from hunger......A homerun by Ramon Castro hurts!

Manager Sam Perlozzo said Sunday that Adam Loewen's start against the Mets was "difficult to access."
Perlozzo has been incredibly patient and supportive of Loewen despite what have been very poor outings, so there's a chance he could remain in the rotation. "I don't know if he ran out of gas. I thought he was losing some command, but his command was in and out all game," Perlozzo said.

I didn't think his outting on Thur was "very poor"

Penn is back at the team's Minor League complex in Sarasota, Fla., and is scheduled to begin throwing sometime soon. Baltimore is bringing him back slowly after an appendectomy and will likely send him back to Triple-A Ottawa after he rebuilds his arm strength. The start of Penn's season was also delayed, and he's made just five starts this season.

Still, they were five starts that confirmed the organization's high opinion of him. The 21-year-old went 2-2 with a 1.48 ERA at Ottawa and was set to join the big-league rotation when appendicitis struck. Penn will likely get another shot at a spot on the O's in late July or early August, once he goes back to Ottawa and demonstrates he's healthy.

That's good news about Penn. Hopefully the O's can improve enough for him to make a contribution after the All-Star break.

Saturday's spot in the Baltimore rotation remains up in the air, as the team is still deciding whether to give rookie Adam Loewen his fifth career start when the Orioles host the Nationals.

After an off-day Monday, manager Sam Perlozzo said he had not yet sat down to discuss if Loewen would pitch Saturday.

He should give him one more start. It might help that It won't be against a Cy Young award winner. The Nats aren't a contender so maybe that will relax him a little.

Hopefully, I'd like to see him get a win...before they send him down when Hayden gets back.
