This guy is just so frustrating.

It looked as though he was getting it together. He put together 3 good starts:
Date Opponent Score Dec IP H R ER HR BB K
May 28 HOU L 4-5 - 8.0 5 2 2 0 3 9
May 22 @ ARI L 3-4 - 6.0 4 0 0 0 3 4
May 17 CIN W 7-2 W 6.0 5 2 2 0 5 5
He only got the win for one of those starts but deserved them for all 3. They were all quality starts. I thought he was turning it around.

Now he gets spanked in back to back starts.

In his last 2 starts combined, he's only pitched 5 innings while giving up 14 earned runs.:hp

It's either all or nothing with this guy

yeah its ok to have a bad game every once in a while but his inconsistency is too much for a major league pitcher. I think they need to option him back to AAA until he gets his act together. Im sure that within the next 2 years (at most) he will be where he needs to be. But for now he should be banned from the pirates locker room.....:grouchy

i blame jim tracy... oliver perez throws 8 beautiful shoutout innings an leads 4-0 going into the 9th... having thrown 120 pitches and having been somewhat shaky all season until recently... u would figure no way is he coming back out for the 9th... well tracy sends him out there.. he throws 7 more pitches to bring him to 127 gives up 2 singles... leaves the game which gonzalez proceeds to cough up.. since then hes been horrible... thanks for ruining him tracy... everyone knows a manager like joe torre would have had him out of there after 8.. building his confidence.. and most likely getting hima win... he still very young and on shaky ground why push it like that... bucs have lost so many close games... some would blame the pen.. i blame the mgr..

As much as I think Tracy is utter crap. You have to give the kid a chance at a CG/SO. It could do wonders on a kids confidence.

Well he put forth a solid effort tonight, giving up two runs and seven hits over seven innings. Unfortunately, The Redbirds sent out Chris Carpenter who was in true Cy Young form and shutout the Bucco's over 7 innings, while fanning 13 and giving up only 3 hits.

Tough break for Perez, he deserved a better fate. Who knows what his next start will bring...

yeah he didnt do too bad at all. I got frustrated with him when he gave up 4 hits in a row leading to the Cards 2nd run, but its not a good matchup when Carpenter is the opponent

Tracy needs to learn to pull Perez a little earlier from now on. That's 2 starts in recent memory in which Perez has been in total cruise control until the late inning, only to see his masterpiece fall apart in no time. I'd like to see Tracy stop hoping for the CG and pul Perez after 7. Now instead of being confident Perez gets to add to his league leading Loss total.
