I've been asked to help coach a 13-15 BR team that my son plays on. Last night I videotaped the kids hitting. I saw what I'm sure you would expect to see in a group of kids that have never been exposed to rotational hitting.

I am quite hesitant to go in and try to wholesale change their batting styles when their first game in tomorrow night. My thought is that I can help them incorporate pieces of the rotational swing that might help improve their hitting in the short term. For instance, the better hitters are, to varying degrees, rotating OK, but almost no one is tilting. I would like to introduce them to that simple concept and see how they adapt before going on to the c part of pcr. For the kids who are batting only with their arms I would probably want to get them to incorporate rotation first.

In other words, I'm asking y'all (I can speak southern in a pinch) whether you think this incremental approach is practical and, if not, what you would suggest as an alternative.

I would say that the incremental approach is probably your best bet at this point in the year. I compare changing a swing to when you first begin to lift weights. A lot of times you will go backwards before you go forward. Also, if you completely overhaul a kid's swing, he isn't going to be very comfortable at the plate. As we all know, if you aren't comfortable, you aren't going to have much success. Good luck.
