He'll probably hit a few more at least. Hitting home runs is not his forte though, so it doesn't matter that much in the Mariners strategy. Really his job is to get on base, and we may be looking at a 250+ hit season out of him this year :). Any home runs he hits are just gravy.

I thoroughly expect him to have at least five this season - maybe not many more, but at least 5. He'll probably have a good week sometime soon and pop a couple middle of the plate pitches over a short fence.

He'll get 7HRs this yr

(-more than Beltre :laugh )

He's never hit less than 8 so reaching 5 should be no problem.

To reach 5, he only needs 3 more in the next 99 games, or in about the next 422 AB's - shouldn't be too hard, all he needs is for 3 well hit balls to go over the fence - only three. This guy gets more AB's than anyone, so he'll have plenty of opportunities to get just those few HR's.

I have a better question.

Who cares??

As long as Ichiro keeps hitting .360, I'd rathewr he not try for those HRs thank you.

A better question is will Sexson hit 20?

Yep, I should hope so & think he will, although it is quite worrying that R. Ibanez has more HRs than him

Also, will Sexson strike out 200 times?

I don't know what's wrong with Sexson right now...but his whole game is screwed up...he's not fielding his position well, he's not swinging the bat with the same quickness (his swing looks long and slow), and he's hitting a barrage of groundballs to short telling me he's not seeing the ball well either.

I agree completely.

During periods when he tries to turn on the ball (which belies his natural style and abilities), he struggles. He did that for much of last year- he hit twice as many homeruns than he had the year before. Hopefully he's disabused himself of trying to be something he isn't. Let's hope he continues to hit the ball where it's pitched and hit the ball naturally.

It's really incredible to watch a master of a chosen craft, though. It's pretty ridiculous how good this guy is at getting hits- he has 26 in his last 10 games (26 for 46).

Sure he will hit 5 home runs this season but he is one of the best if not the best hitters in the league and thats all you can ask for.

Well, Richie hit a big 'un tonight, huh?

He (Sexson) SHOULD be hitting more of those.

In other news, Ichiro hit his 3rd HR of the year, a nice 3 run blast in the 7th inning to cap off another good day at the plate for Ichiro.

I think you should criticise players more often like this, because after doing this to Sexson he hit a GS last night & Beltre hit a HR too :D :clapping

With three (3) grand slams this year and now (12) for his career, Ritchie is on pace to break Lou's record. He only needs (12) more !

Manny might do it first. He has like (19).
