Brandon Fahey of the Orioles just hit a homerun against the Yankees. He's the son of Senators catcher,Bill Fahey. Bill only got 8 at bats with the Nats in 1971 but moved with the team to Texas and spent parts of 72'-77' with the Rangers. Overall,he had an 11 year career as a backup catcher. Can anyone think of other Senators sons that played professional baseball? A few come to mind.

Tommy Grieve's son Ben, for one. I think Diego Segui's son is David Segui and Dick Nen the 1st baseman has a son who was a closer for Florida and a couple other teams.

Senator Ted Kennedy's son is a member of Congress. Does this count?:p

These are all correct. Diego Segui was a good choice. He only pitched one year for the Nats in 1966.

There was also Dave and Mike Stenhouse.

There are at least 2 more.:lookitup

How about fathers of Senators. Dolf Camilli was the father of Doug Camilli, the catcher.

I thought of that one too and looked both up. The talent level was very different! Al and Del Unser and Joe Coleman Sr. And Jr. were other ones.

The Burroughs were one I had in mind.
I forgot about the Brumleys. That's pretty good!

At least one more that I can think of.

I'll check on that but......I'm pretty sure that may be wrong! :laugh

Here's another hint:
The father won 20 games twice and 196 in his career.(plus 1 World Series game)

 Claude Osteen had a son named Gavin who played in the minors but I'm not sure if he ever got to the Major Leagues.

Ron & Kurt Stillwell. Ron played parts of 2 seasons in the majors, all with the Senators. He appeared in 14 games for the Sens in 1961 & 1962. Ron's son, Kurt, would go on to have a better career, most notably with the Royals, where he was an all star in 1988.

Robb Nen is the son of Dick Nen. Dick came over in the Howard/Osteen trade. He was an awesome defensive first baseman, but, alas, couldn't hit.

Hence, he was relegated to the minors for most of his career.

However, Dick was something like 40 games short of qualifying for the baseball pension. The Senators would call him up every September and keep him on the roster so he would qualify. They did the same thing with Jim French.

Not sure if Dick Nen ever got all the games he needed.

Warning-Dormant topic being revived!

While researching birthdays for the "This Date in Senators History" thread I stumbled across the careers of Ricardo and Gil Torres. Both were from Regia, Cuba and both are deceased, Ricardo having died in 1960, Gil in 1983.

Father Ricardo played in just 22 games for the Senators from 1920-1922. He appeared in 16 games in 1920, playing 7 games at 1st base and another 5 as a catcher. Ricardo Torres would play in just 2 games in 1921 and 4 more in 1922, marking the end of his major league career.

Son Gil first came up with the Senators in 1940, pitching in 2 games. He'd return in 1944 as an infielder, playing in 134 games. In 1945 he'd play in another 147 games and end his major league career in 1946, playing in 63 games, pitching in 3 of them.
