My 5 and under team played the ringer team 2 times in the tourney. We lost both those games, but we had them against the ropes for most of both games. We won against every other team in the league, and came in 2nd place. We played hard, it was hot, and I was very proud of our team.

(remember they are all under 5 years old.) Every player on my team gave the winning team a round of applause when they were presented the trophy. At that exact moment I got something in my eyes, and they got a little watery.

Sincerest congratulations.

You should be very proud of them.

I couldn't be prouder. Our least talented player, drove in the winning run on one of the other games. The light came on, and she got a few more hits after that.

Can,
Don't lose perspective that the "ringer team" is just a bunch of kids wanting to play...

These kids are under 5 years old, who cares who wins? Let them have fun and go to the snack bar after the game. I can't believe you even keep score, let alone are playing in a tournament. Sports these days............

I guess you didn't win today, eh?

we only keep score in the tournament games.

You can still have fun... even when you lose. They are not mutually exclusive.

All the kids on all the teams had fun. Wining and losing is part of life. You win some you lose some. It really isn't that big of a deal.

If you are teaching you kids that losing is some traumatic event, or makes playing sports NOT fun, I feel sorry for your team members... but, if you want to shelter your kids that is your choice.

We lost twice to the same team, all our kids understood that, and not one of them was upset at all. They all tried their hardest in all the games. They all understand that you can't win them all, and they all understand that you can still hold your head high when you lose.

Having spent some time teaching groups of kids under 5, and I'm in awe of people who can organize a baseball tournament for kids that young. Seems like it would be tough keeping the kids' interest long enough to finish an inning, let alone an entire tournament.

I was pretty shocked at how well all the team's kids hung in there... all day today. Of all the teams, only one very young girl decided she didn’t want to play. We don’t force anyone to play.

We had it the worst of all the teams. we played one game late last night, and then had 3 in a row today 12:00, 1:15 and 2:40.

It was hot, and the kids were a little sluggish during our last game. I was worried for a while we had pushed them too hard. We kept them hydrated by keeping them in the shade, and pushing juice, Gatorade and water. After the last game, they all ran around like gang busters for another 45 minutes playing tag, keep away, and "who's the fastest".
