Anyone who tells me Peter Angelos is not the worst owner in baseball would be proven wrong right there.....that would be cruel and unusual punishment as defined by the constitution. I would take him to court.

It certainly would be ironic.

The sad thing is, there are probably attorneys who would take the case.

Yeah, like Peter Angelos.

Yeah, like Peter Angelos.
It would give him the opportunity to defend himself, since he doesn't seem to feel the need to do so in regards to how he has run his team.

The O's could draft him and then maroon him in the minors for years. One way to get revenge. Not as good way to run a baseball team, but you would get your pound of flesh.

It would be obviously that Peter cares nothing about this team, so I'd encourage him to immediately resign Tony T to the Orioles so that Jeff would be forced to play with him on the team every day. See him everyday, and Tony could make his life miserable. I would arrange an interleague match with the Giants so Armando could get a throw at his head. You know, let him get a shot to pitch at him. Then play the Yankees as much as we can, with Erickson and Mike Mussina...ooo, they'd be taking such shots at him...and Wells on the red sox too.
Two things would happen, either Jeff would be so battered and bruised I would just be happy by that alone. Or, we'd get so many HBP....we'd do really well as a team.

Why don't we just give the boy a chance.

Knowing Angelos he might prefer to draft Jeffrey Dahmer. :D

Can all be forgiven if Jeffrey Maier turns out to be a stud for the Orioles and helps get them within reach of a World Series? Please, this is Jeffrey Maier the player we should be talking about. Jeffrey Maier the fan, well that's another story. If anything most of the blame should be put on the umpire who refused to call that catch an interference. Though I do understand why people would be mad at the kid.

I try and go back and ask the 23 year old me that....who sat there watching that game....in shock...in horror. Watching the chance slip away....
It's 2006, we haven't been to the WS since 1983. What if I turn out to be like those Red Sox fans and die an old lady....having seen my last WS win at age 11 because some punk kid with bad parents didn't learn that you DO NOT LEAN OVER THE WALL. And, some ump (who hopefully lost his job) made a bad call?
I don't want to "give the kid a chance" lucky David Wells, Mike Mussina and Scott Erickson all went on to other World Series....but how many of those other Orioles...would never see another playoff game. Would never see a world series...would never get their chance.
It's not my place to forgive. If he can get the forgiveness of all the players on the 1996 team, then I have no problem with it. Otherwise...tell him to call Steinbrenner.

As a fan on the Orioles fan page said. If he bats .750...I still would not forgive him.

Yeah, I would actual think about doing this if I was the Orioles. Although I'm not sure how the fans would react.
BTW, if it wasn't for that one event would Jeffery Maier even be drafted? He's he any good? I know he got his school's hit record, but it was a Division III school. I'm sure there are other people who broke DIII school records and were never even looked at (but I don't know for sure).

Exactly my point...if he wasn't who he was...would anyone even know who he was?
