I have been reading this site for a while and need help with what I think I am figuring out. Thanks in advance.

It seems clear that by watching Pujols, Bonds, etc. rotational hitting is absolutely the best method- there does not seem to be any issue on this board or really anywhere else about that. There does however seem to be several schools of thought about proper mechanics, how to teach/learn this method and about loading.

It seems many think Steve Englishbey (sp?) has great information on his dvd's. I have emailed him at setpro25@yahoo.com and am waiting for his reply. Does anyone know if that is still the correct email for him and if not will someone post it or another method of contacting him?

I have a 13 year old son who is in love with this wonderful sport and I want to help him as best I can. He has always made all-star teams etc but has never had the type of power or consistancy that his abilities should produce [I am not suffering from illusions of grandeur with ideas of pro career, etc. I played alot of ball- up to the juco level -and just want him to enjoy the game as much as I did/do and perform to the level his talent allows-whatever that turns out to be]. His swing breaks down from time to time and he is therefore a notorious streak hitter. He has always been taught no or very minimal stride but never really full rotational mechanics.

I have read some information (posts on here as well as some websites) and my son has worked with an instructor in the past, but he is at the age that I feel he must learn the proper swing and be able to repeat it consistently.

I have several questions-

1. Will Englishbey's (sp?) dvd's teach me all I need to know to correctly teach my son the proper swing techniques? If not, from whom or where can I find better (or additional) information?
2. What websites are out there for me to understand what I need to know?
3. What other advice ,in my quest, can anyone offer?

Thank you.

1. I have Steve's dvd's and have had good luck passing that knowledge on to my LL team. However, I found that I still had a lot of questions mostly about interpreting what's on the dvd's. (That is probably largely due to my tendency to get hung up on minutia) Therefore, I brought Steve up to our area to give a lot of kids the opportunity to learn from him and so I could get my questions answered. I don't think you will find a better source for learning this stuff than Steve.

2. I've found this forum to be tremendously helpful in interpreting some of Steve's teachings. The numerous vids of people from LL'ers to MLB players swinging really helps me to understand and visualize the rotational swing.

3. I would pay attention to the props that Steve uses on his dvd's. I particularly like to use the 6' sticks to help kids get the feel of a rotational swing. Also, when he was here he used duct tape on a wall to give kids a reference for tilt and bat angle that I found to be helpful. Kids respond well to visual cues.

Good luck.

That about sums it up.
