Reds long-time broadcaster Joe Nuxhall is in the hospital. Doctors are treating the "old-lefthander" for double-pneumonia. His son convinced him to go to the hospital, according to Reds announcer Marty Brennaman. He says Nuxhall has been suffering from a cough and has been run-down recently. Nuxhall is 77.

My prayers and best wishes are with Joe and I believe all Reds fans will agree with me.

I heard tonight on the Cubs broadcast that pitching coach Vern Ruhle is currently undergoing cancer treatment. Do you have any additional info on that, nascarfn? The broadcasters didn't seem overly concerned so I suspect it's not one of the more serious (if that's possible) types.

Vern's cancer was detected during team physicals and was discovered early enough to allow a recovery so it isn't as serious as it would have been if not detected during team physicals.
