Yesterday against the Rangers, Frank Thomas played in his 2000th career game. Thomas has played 1959 career games with the White Sox and 41 for the Athletics so far. He's played 1028 games as DH and 971 at first base. The last player to reach 2000 games was Tino Martinez with the Yankees last year.

However, unlike Gehrig and Ripken, Thomas' 2000 games weren't played consecutively. ;)

Thomas has been fairly productive so far for a man who's played only 108 games the last two seasons; he hit his 10th HR this evening. I hope as the season progresses he'll continue to come closer to resembling his old form.

He'd have to add on 120 points to his batting average and OBP. That's no small feat.

His BA has been on the decline for several years now. I do think he's improving a little more each game he plays. Currently at .230 14hr 33rbi, he's doing ok. I predict that by seasons end he'll raise his BA to around .265-.270 and he'll lead the A's with homers. That is, if he stays injury free. If he plays next year, he'll get his 500 home runs. I'm sure that at this point in his career, that's about the only goal he has left for himself.

His play this year more than convinces me he'll reach 500 Hr and the hall of fame. The general public does not know who great Frank Thomas was in his prime, IMO greater than the ever-loved Ken Griffey Jr. His batting eye is surpassed by no one that I've seen in my life besides Barry Bonds.

Glad to see that Frank Thomas is back to his mashing ways, at least to a certain extent. Dude's a monster.

Gotta love the way he admires his moonshots on the way to first base.
