Do you think that we should take a stab at getting Dontrelle Willis or Miguel Cabrera before the trading deadline?
Cause the way I see it, no offense to the Marlins fans, the Marlins are going to be disbanded after the season is over with. They already had a large fire sale ($15.6 million payroll) and they are pretty competitive right now but not as competitive with all the minor leaguers and rookies they brought up.
I'd love to see Willis in the O's Black and Orange, he'd be a substantial pick up. But the way I see it, the yankees general management will push through everyone before the trading deadline and say "Mr. Willis.... Come, we give you lots of money so that you can play for us." They'll probably give him $14 to $17 million a season easy. The yankees have enough superstars, they don't need anymore.
I know I may sound stupid here, but I think General Management ought to take a big chance by going after these two potential superstars and lock 'em up to large contracts. It's time to spend, with as much money as we have saved... Sheesh, start spending Peter.
Peter, we also don't need to trade Conine or Millar. Conine said that he wants to finish his career with the O's because he's had the most success here. Millar likes it in Baltimore.
Now my second thing is, major league baseball's CBA expires this season, I think that owners need to stress a few things at the owners meetings.
Address the situation with the Florida Marlins, their stadium issue, and their potential move.
Think about a salary cap so that we have a competitive balance in the major leagues.
Time to start thinking about a maximum contract just like what the NHL does.
Think about moving a team from the NL to the AL to make the Leagues even at 15 (Right now it's 14-AL 16-NL)
LET THE GENERAL PUBLIC HAVE A SAY AT THE MEETINGS
Address the potential of adding Instant Replay.
Steroid Testing. Keep it tough with 3 strikes and yer outta there.
Now what do you all think?
Do you think that the general public should have a say at the Meetings? You know, let them know that we need some changes to the MLB's system of ethics and policy?
