Mike Maroth took a beating today, only allowing 1 out, but allowed six hits and runs, ALL earned today during the game against Kansas City, of all teams. :crazy

I'm following the game right now. Guys will get hammered sometimes, it's just the way it goes. But hey, if it stays like this we still walk away with 3 out of 4, and we're reeling off a nice little comeback as I type. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm taking my garlic breath and Cheetos fingers over to the Cardinal board to reminisce with y'all about the 1968 World Series. Good Times.

Looks like the team is picking this one up for Mike "the Moth" Maroth, currently 13-8 in the bottom of the ninth. GO TIGERS!!!!
Thems is some magical boys....shall we call them "blessed"?

This whole series was incredible. Today was a fantastic comeback. This team never quits, something that was all too rampant in years past. Maroth owes a few guys some post-game beers and shots for keeping him out of the "L" column. And how about Marcus Thames? Wow. The guy only has 11 rbi's, with 8 homers. Those are some crazy stats. Not only are these Tigers the real deal, but so is Thames. He really should be the full-time DH, no matter what comes of Da Meat Hook. He can crush a ball.

1968 = "Go get'em, Tigers"
1984 = "Bless you, boys"
2006 = "Nine Innings!"

I can't believe we...wait...I CAN believe we won that game. "Lao-hu dwei da bang cho fei chang how." That translates from Mandarin as "though the typhoon wind of the sea goddess rebukes the tiger in its lair, it only lasted 7 innings."

That's some funny stuff, riverfrontier. Yesterday, I was sitting in the Doc's office waiting (and waiting), so I decided to check the score on my cell phone. I saw that it was 8-5 in the top of the eighth inning, and the first thought that came to my mind was "that's not that bad, we can come back." Lo and behold, we did. I guess it didn't surprise me as much as it would have in years past. If we can win 9 or 10 of the next 15 games, we'll know for sure whether we're witnessing something special this season. Nobody will be able to say we haven't really played anybody good two weeks from now. Hopefully the team comes out smelling like roses.

You've probably all heard or read by now that Mike Maroth has been placed on the 15-day DL with left elbow inflammation; Chris Spurling was recalled from Toledo. This explains Maroth's last performance.
He and the team believe rest is the ticket to recovery, as it was earlier this season when he missed a start, but will make tests to determine if the inflammation is indicative of something deeper.
It's yet to be determined who'll take his spot in the rotation. The Free Press mentions Colon or Grilli, but Leyland is keeping his options open.
