How sad is that? He gives up 2 runs, just a few hits and K's 16 and still loses the game... So much for run support!

I watched every pitch of that game, and watching Peavy fan everyone was incredible. I really wish he had won the decision, because he made Smoltz look old.

The only thing keeping him from being legendary right now is an uncanny ability to throw only one bad pitch a game, and having it get hit a mile.

I guess that's still pretty good for a guy that hasn't turned 25 yet.

(Just a whisper - 375 wins and 6000 strikeouts)

I like the suggestion that he will end up no.3 in wins and no.1 in k's. Is that realistic, though.

Do you remember shat pitcher set a record(at the time) for k's in a game and still lost.

Thats why it was just a whisper, anything more than that and it becomes too big. It will still be fun to watch him no matter where he ends up in the record books.

I couldn't believe it when I saw the box score from that game. 16 K's. And the loss.

Peavy would be in the elite class of pitchers if he played on any sort of a large market team.

Do you remember that pitcher set a record(at the time) for k's in a game and still lost.

Steve Carlton fanned 19 on 9/15/69 but lost to the Mets 4-3, as Ron Swoboda hit two two-run homers.

I remember seeing Sid Fernandez strike out 16 Braves once but he served up a homer to Lonnie Smith in the 9th and lost.

Rangers could give him some run support! Trade him to texas:hp

Run support is relative. When you pitch in the number 1 slot in the rotation you usually face the other team’s number 1, which is why the run support for any number is lower than the lesser pitchers in the rotation. That being said that was an awesome display by Jake the other night, besides one pitch.
