I just heard that Hayden is not going to be starting on Wed...he's having his appendix (sp?) out. Adam Loewen is flying out to Seattle...maybe? to start.

What a bad break for Penn. He will be out after emergency surgery for a minimum of two weeks,according to the O's website on MLB.com Loewen is on his way but they show John Halama starting tonight against Seattle. Washington-Baltimore baseball players have been jinxed by the Injury bug this year! :eek:

Poor Loewen. He got so nervous, and Boo! and Sammy yanking him so early. I thought he'd get at least a few batters to try and calm down.:ughh
It makes you wonder what's going on in our farm system, doesn't it Chelle? :laugh
Remember Mazzone just said our staff lacked fire in their gut, more or less. Loewen's just started but, well, maybe we need a psych scout or something?

I think he was a bit nervous and I'm a bit annoyed at Sammy for yanking him so early. First we're told we want to develop these guys, then we don't give them the chance. If Sammy was going to just stick him in the pen, I think it was a mistake to call him up...give Halama the start and let Birkins and Britton and the guys back him up in the pen...develop Loewen a bit more in AA/AAA and call him up at the end of the year as per contact. Why bring the kid up (a starter) just to have him be relief? A waste.
As for Penn, when he comes back in the 2-4 weeks than what? Send Loewen back down until the end of the year? THat will mess with his confedence....or send one of the other guys back down? Or, bullpen is just starting to gel.
