I think it is an advantage for the Yanks since Mazzilli has great knowledge of the O's , their pitching staff and their strategies , weaknesses , strenghs ....

Unfortunately for him, he couldn't use that to his own advantage while in Baltimore, as to getting them to win much in the 2nd half of 2005. Had his 2nd half been as good as his 1st half, he would likely still be there. Of course, no Leo Mazzone, since Mazzone, I think, signed there because of Sam Perlozzo, the current manager.
From an April 21-23 series (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/teams/schedule?team=nyy), the Yanks are 2-1, so it's not a big deal. We'd have to see how well the so-called advantage becomes in the end.
If anything, he knows the Yanks better, but the other coaches from when he'd last previously here (2004) are all gone.
I don't think Mazzilli will make much of any impact when it comes to the Orioles. I'm not even certain he'll make much of an impact on the Yankees. I can say after observing him here that his personality probably befits a New York team better than a Baltimore team. He's "all business", and somewhat of an elitist.

Manager to Bench Coach, he's moving on up. That's as good as he was ever going to get. It was a mistake bringing him to Baltimore. Just another bonehead decision by the old man in the warehouse

I don't think he was horrible. But I'm at the point where not-horrible is ok by me in the manager role. I think Lee is going to be not-horrible for the Yanks.
