My dad grew up a Philadelphia Athletics fan. His stepdad and I finally converted him to a Yankee fan.
Anyway, he used to tell me about an infield they had in the 40's. I think his favorite player was a guy named Pete Suder. I think the others he mentioned were Fain and Joost( I can't remember th 4th.)
Can anyone enlighten me on these guys.

Thank You for the links. Looking at the 47 roster, I think the other one my dad said was Majeski.
Obviously, Feris Fain was the best of them. Didn't he win a batting title one or two of those years?
Joost walked a lot. Until Barry Bonds, 149 walks was definitely a lot. I think Ruth's old record was 170.
Suder was an average hitter at best.
Majeski hit .310 one year. That's not too bad.
One last note, did you know that there was a 22 year old infielder on that team named Nellie Fox. I think he had some good years ahead of him.

I believe the infield of Fain, Suder/Fox, Joost, and Majeski (1949) still holds the record for most doubleplays turned in a season. (Yes, Nellie Fox was originally an Athletic.) Unfortunately, Fox and Majeski were traded to the White Sox that Fall following the season.
