I recently researched this question for an article I wrote for the SLB newsletter Pop Flies. With the May 4th death of Jim Delsing, the number of living Browns has now shrunk to 65. I don't know how evenly the following data is going to print out to this post, but here are the names of the living Browns from oldest to youngest, along with birthdates and the ages that each man turns in 2006:

Sorry to say, Bill -- Billy Hitchcock passed on April 9, 2006. I saw it last month on the Orioles board.

Super list...the birthdates, ages, and order are just the thing.

Thanks, VIBaseball. I interviewed Billy a long time ago for my book, but I had no idea that he too had passed. That sad news takes us down to 64 and the following updated list. If we can keep our eyes and ears to the ground, we can use this thread to keep up with the tolling of the bell on a now ancient, but special time in baseball history. The St. Louis Browns in living form will too soon be gone for good. We can make it our job to make sure that they are not forgotten. If anyone else has a death to confirm, please help us by posting it here.

Here's the updated list - minus Billy Hitchcock:

Does anybody know where to get a hold of him? He's not in the Abels to Zoldak book. Last known address is Homewood, IL. Close enough to make the Browns dinner! :D

Thanks for this great list. My dad was traveling secretary and announced games with Buddy Blattner and Diz. My fondest childhood memories involve time at Sportsman's Park with Daddy, Bill Veeck, Bob Fischel, and those great Brownies, my very first heroes. Took lots of courage to be in the cellar so often and still know how to laugh. Great times! I just found this site while researching some Satch stories for a little boy in my life. I'll be here often. I'd give my right arm to see that infamous trophy. Do you know how the owner came to be in posession?

Hi, I am interested in contacting Dick Kryhoski if he is still living because as far as I know he was the only major leaguer ever born in my small hometown, Leonia, New Jersey. I am starting a baseball league and am considering naming the league after Mr. Kryhoski. If anyone has any information that would help out, I would greatly appreciate it.
thanks!

Hey Zoo!

If you want to write Dick Kryhoski, his home address is:

18885 Warwick Road
Birmingham, Michigan 48009

Dick Kryhoski is a regular attendee of our Browns Fan Club banquets in St. Louis. He's very fan friendly and I'm sure the old 1st sacker will be glad to hear from you - if you write him by your real name, of course.

Regards,

Bill McCurdy

My book is a few years old, but here's the addresses I have on those three:

George Binks
4803 Belmont Road, Downers Grove, IL, 60515

Ray Coleman
P.O. Box 8, Hornbrook, CA, 96044

Jim Pisoni
5500 Promise Land Dr., Frisco, TX 75034

I'd suggest trying a search for their phone number via something like ultimate white pages, if you want to try that route.

Best of luck,

Dave Heller

This is a *good* thing for Browns fans, right?**

JUST Kidding! ;)

**He led the National League in earned run average in 1943, and was the winning pitcher of the clinching game in the 1944 World Series against the crosstown St. Louis Browns.

I've set up a new, more accurately named thread to record all future changes in the list of living former Browns. It's entitled "The Living Former Browns - To This Date." - Maybe I am being too picky about the title I gave this thread in the first place, "The Living Browns: Through 5/18/06," because it bugged me that the 5/18/06 date I gave it back then was now misleading. Since I couldn't change the title of this thread, I just started a new one.

Talk about having time on my hands this Friday night! Look at the energy I just used on this very "important" subject. :o

Mr McCurdy,
I am sad to inform you of the passing of John Ox Miller on August 13, 2007. Mr Miller was a great man and loved the game of baseball to his dieing day. Mr Miller not only played the game but continued his baseball legacy in a way that few player have. He Managed Semi-pro teams and best of all for decades coachedbabe Ruth Flax League with some of the players being former big-league pitcher Jim Acker, University of the Incarnate Word pitching coach John Maley and Rodney Pedraza who set the Japanese baseball record for saves by a non-Japanese player, these were just a few of his proteges that may be none by other. Mr Miller instilled in his players values on and off of the field. He will be greatly missed by all of those who he had dealings with in his great life. He is now pitching in a bigger game a game that you and I will someday be able to watch.

Regards,
Johann
