After Gagne's injury last spring training the Blue have had numerous problems with the backend of their bullpen. Who should be in that role Saito- No experience Baez- Nutcase Maybe Broxton or Beimel or should Colleti pull the trigger on a move maybe Cordero from Texas.

Unless Baez' 41 saves in '05 was a complete anomaly, I still think he's the guy for the job at this time. If Game Over never makes it back, (although it looks as if he will according to the latest reports), I believe that Borxton will eventually develop into a very fine closer.

There have been alot of former closers who one year just lose it. Most recently Danny Graves. Gagne is a huge question mark on ever pitching again in my opinion. If Broxton becomes all the sudden Jon Papelbon than I will be in 7th heaven but I think it will take at least a year.

Saito has been decent so far in the role in a few games.

Did a nice job at shutting down the Angels saturday. Rumor is that K-Rod asked to stay behind at Dodger Stadium in hopes of actually being used... J/K... :dance

I think Broxton could be a candidate.

So far, Little has alternated between Saito and Baez (Saito picked up his second save today). Personally, I'd like to see a definite closer instead of the "closer by committee" that Little was used to in Boston.

According to the following article I read in ESPN, Gagne is ready to return for the home series against Philly:
