Boy did you pick the right day to go to a Reds game! Nice pics! :waving
I'm still thinking about that game, mainly due to the jaw-dropping finish. What was your reaction after Griffey hit that homerun?

I thought that was so awesome to see, especially when they were left for dead in the top of that inning. That was probably the most dramatic ending to a game that I've seen in person in a long time.
He also made an awesome diving catch in the 7th inning to save extra bases.
I can now safely say that I saw one of the best hitters ever to play the game hit a walk-off homer.:gt
Funny thing about this was that my friend that I met up at the ballpark left after Nick Johnson went deep to lead off the top of the 11th.So one Griffey walked-off Washington,I called my friend on my cell phone and told her that she should never leave the park early again.:laugh

It's currently being renovated. They're moving it 53 feet or something insane like that.

Terrific photos, Chisox73! Thanks for sharing them.
It reminded me of the photos that I took in 1957 of CROSLEY FIELD. Needless to say, GREAT AMERICAN is a far cry from Crosley. Would you happen to know if the new ballpark is located in the vicinity of where Crosely Field used to be? Just curious.

Great pics! The stands look so empty.
But the pics give us a good view of the stadium.
Thank you!

I wholeheartedly agree with the above sentiments. Those are the type of photos I wish I could take more of. The Ohio River as a whole is very scenic.
Did you get a chance to see anything else besides downtown, Chisox73? I know your time was limited.

No. Crosley was located about a mile-and-a-half north of where GABP is.

I do have a recollection of the Western Avenue address name.
Do you happen to know on what side of the field the visiting dugout was located? I think it was on the first base side (but I am not sure) because that is where WE sat for the three games that WE were there on OUR roadtrip?

The visitors' dugout was indeed on the first base side. Both dugouts were to either side and behind home plate.

Thanks for all the feedback here.:waving I greatly appreciate it.
As I was leaving Cincinnati,I did make a side trip to the old Crosley site on Findlay and Western just off I-75.That part is pretty much an industrial park now.
As for staying in town that night,I was pretty much limited because of the rain and cold out there last week. The only time it didn't rain was when the game was on.But it was unseasonably cold for mid-May.
They had 15,771 in attendance that night, but roughly half the crowd remined til the end.
I had a great time at the game,it was a well pitched game by Arroyo, and I got to see Junior hit a home run.

Good pics Chisox73. I was unfortunate to have went to a Reds game prior to the Great American Ballpark. Cinergy Field, formerly Riverfront Stadium, was a travesty. One of the old cookie-cutters from the 60s. Plan to visit G.A.B. on my tour next year. About 12-13 more ballparks to go.
Best parks (current):
Wrigley Field (Cubs bias)
Fenway Park
Orioles Park at Camdem Yards
Yankee Stadium
Citizens Bank Park
US Cellular Field
Jacobs Field
Miller Park
Coors Field
Best former ball parks:
Tigers Stadium
Comiskey Park
County Stadium
Worst (Past and Current):
Metrodome
Cinergy Park
Chase Field (AZ)
Turner Field
Busch Stadium
