:ughh And this was a letdown game, indeed. Griffey lines out to end the game for Gordon to get Sv. #11 in extra innings.

We just ran into the Phillies at the wrong time. Their pitching was awesome throughout the series. Not much you can do about that, but I'm optimistic about this team. We just need to stay away from a big, demoralizing losing streak.

He lost because we didn't run. 1 stolen base and that was by Adam Dunn, not Lopez, Freel, or Phillips.

nah...he lost because it's baseball and being swept is an inevitability. ironically, it's on Mother's Day once again.:laugh

I see signs of encouragement in this losing streak. I would rather see the Reds lose games 2-1 and 1-0 than 10-5 and 8-6. This means that their pitching is getting stronger and consistent. It's easier to win with better pitching than a great offense. Also, the Reds offense is very streaky, just look at Freel and Dunn as your prime examples. The hitting will come around, but 2 earned runs combined out of Williams and Claussen in the last two starts is music to a Reds fans ears.

The pitching was exceptional last weekend, but I have no clue what happened to the offense. I'm still confident that this team can compete, but for that to happened, the pitching must continue to improve...

At least it wasn't embarrassment on national TV or giving up 10 runs before the first out.

Shocking that as soon as Griffey gets back they start doing terrible. Who would have guessed? (and that stupid walkoff convinced everyone he's good again)

Here's hoping the title of this thread doesn't apply to the current series as well.
As to Griffey, even though he's always hurt and has under-performed, and there is direct correlation between those two statements, I'd rather have him than a head case superstar like sheffieldbondsramirez, etc...
