Greetings all, from a native Brooklynite, playwright, and newbie on the forum:

This is to let you know about an upcoming production of a play about Branch Rickey and Jackie Robinson.

The play is called "Three Men on A Base", by Maria Elena Torres, directed by Shawn Rosza, and produced by the In Sight series connected with the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre, in New York City. It is a look at how Rickey signed Robinson to the Brooklyn Dodgers, and the opposition they faced; it features Rickey, Robinson, Rachel Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, and Leo Durocher.

The play will be presented at the Producers Club, 616 Ninth Avenue, on West 44th Street and Ninth Avenue, New York City, Thursday May 25 through Saturday May 27 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday May 28 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Admission is only $5.00.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions at elena@pipeline.com.

Oh, I used tons of references -- I have entire bookcase with only baseball and Brooklyn Dodger related material: Tygiel's "Baseball's Great Experiment"; Leo Durocher's autobiography; Gerald Eskenazi's bio of Leo; Laraine Day's "A Day with the Giants"; two bios of Branch Rickey; a bio of Satchell Paige; books about the Negro Leagues; about the Brooklyn Dodgers; and, a terrific volume for someone like me, who knows nothing about baseball: "Nine Sides to the Diamond", which spends a chapter on each position on the field, explains the purpose and nuances of each, and gives small profiles of outstanding holders of the position. They spend a nice amount of time on Gionfriddo and his catch, comparing it with Willie Mays'.
