My guess is Roy Campanella.

Roy Campenella can't be right, there is no "y" in the anagram.

I'm not sure if this is right since it doesn't fit the anagram but Clyde McCullough of the Cubs hit 3 homers on 6/26/1942 in a 4-3 loss at Philadelphia

McCullough's feat was in a home game.

Of course, it is right. "Odd Blank Soccer Keg" = "Second Black Dodger"

Clyde McCullough was one of only two players ever to appear in a World Series game without a regular-season appearance.

Who's the other?

baseballlibrary is not the most accurate source. For example, they said two people were the first Mexican to win 20 games in a season.

yeah, I remember that. It was the old Siamese Twins from the state of Chihuahua controversy and they argued who should get the record. That's a tough one to judge.

I think they later went on to make a movie about it starring Greg Kinnear and Matt Damon. Good flik!

Did you watch it in your kitchen?

baseballlibrary is not the most accurate source. For example, they said two people were the first Mexican to win 20 games in a season.Yes, but if you click on the link you'll see the scoreboard information was compiled by retrosheet.org and they won't release information unless they are sure it's accurate. I believe McCullough was the first catcher to hit 3 consecutive homers on the road and Campanella was the second.

Maybe McCullough had hit two homers in his lat two ABs the previous game and homered in his first AB of that game? Also, did Retrosheet provide the "In the news" portion?

I don't know who provided the "in the news" portion so there's no way to verify that the homers were consecutive or not. Since the Cubs only scored 3 runs it's possible Clyde only batted 3 times in the game and at most 4. It does appear that the game in question was definitely played in Philadelphia and not Chicago as KCGhost mention based on the retrosheet. org information.

Ghost: What are your sources that say McCullough did it in a home game and that Campanella was the first catcher to hit 3 consecutive on the road?

My mistake on McCullough doing it at home. I mis-read retrosheet on that one.

I won't give you my source but I will say the source cites David Vincent of SABR as his source. The list I used does not show McCullough as even hitting 3HR's in a game as a catcher.
