All jokes aside, let's be realistic, the Pirates will not contend this year.
CubBlue aka the Prophet, would like to talk about making a deal. The player I have in mind is super utility man Craig Wilson.
What is a fair deal, in your minds Pirate fans, that could satisfy both sides? What is a deal where we don't rob you and vice versa. Is it pitching the Pirates need? Infielders?
I don't think he should demand too much, but I want to get an idea of what the fans think. Thanks, I look forward to a good discussion :D

Although it was a joke, it is probably not best to tell us we are done in our own forum.
But seriously, although Craig Wilson seems like good trade bait, the reason why he was not moved in the off-season was simple: the Bucs know that Craig is better than anyone who they could get in return.
I don't know anything about Cubs prosects, but I would probably want one of your top guys, and you would most likely not be willing to give him up.

with the injury to Casey, Angel Guzman and possibly Dopirak would be the place to start in getting Wilson. though sufficient cash (but not enough to make MLB veto it) would limit it.
unless Littlefield is going to make two retarded moves in a row (something he rarely does), there's no way the Cubs can pry Wilson at this point without a top Cub prospect and a highend mid-prospect/pile o' cash.

Well, looks like we're not too far from joining you guys in the gutter. Got room down there? :o
The Cubs should still try and nab Wilson, and give him an extension/new deal. He's a valueable player and a better version of Hollandsworth at his best. (when he was tearing it up in Chicago went Sammy got injured)
You guys like Rich Hill? :D

Which Craig Wilson do you want?
The one who came out the gate hot....
23 G, 68 AB, 13 R, 21, H, 5 2b, 1 3b, 7 HR, 18 RBI, 7 BB, 19 SO, 1 SB, 0 CS, 1 HBP, .309 AVG, .383 OBP, .721 SLG, 1.104 OPS
...Or the one who has done pretty much nothing since....
19 G, 62 AB, 3 R, 12 H, 1 2b, 1 3b, 0 HR, 3 RBI, 6 BB, 23 SO, 0 SB, 0 CS, 3 HBP, .194 AVG, .296 OBP, .242 SLG, .538 OPS
....Will the real Craig Wilson please stand up....
The real Craig Wilson only shows up for home games and games played at night. That other bum is an imposter....I kinda have a hunch who it may be....Brant Brown ;)

Theres plenty of room in the gutter...since we're packing up and moving out anyways u can have my old bed. Its broken in quite nicely over the past decade but we're moving up to the ground floor in a couple weeks.
Everything is coming together nicely as of late (with the exception of Perez). Plenty of hitters coming through day in and day out, we're starting to win games instead of losing them by 1 or 2 runs, and they're getting a few come from behind wins also (most recently a grandslam by Bautista in the 8th to win it 7-5). I believe the Pirates are on their way from being "a sucky team" to just "a team". And in 2 years or so we might even be "a decent team".

Couldn't agree wtih you more.
A 4-3 record on this recent road trip is a nice surprise. Although this week is going to be mighty tough with the Cards coming to town. But thankfully they don't have Pujols, so maybe the Bucco's can catch them feeling sorry for themselves. After all, STL is 4-6 in their last 10 games.
Since being swept by Arizona (May22-24) the Pirates have gone 11-6. Maybe that was the turning point of the year. I'm going to be interested in looking at the splits when the year ends. With the way things have looked recently, with the exception of that brutal first month and a half of the season, the Pirates do look like a respectable team.
Next up: .400 baseball and passing the Cubs.
