His hands. He one left and one right.

He is the only left handed catcher to play in 1000 games.

He is the the only left-handed catcher to play 1000 games at that position. I have no idea what your first guess is, but I can tell you it is wrong.

That's one. What is the other?

The other thing involves a record as a catcher.

He ranks sixth in that category. Before we go too far afield I must tell that being a catcher is important to the answer but is not fielding related.

Like I said it is not fielding related, but to answer your guess Clements rates 7th in errors by a catcher. It involves holding a record by a catcher for a period of time.

No. If it was that I wouldn't have needed the catcher qualifier.

I've only seen it mentioned when he was talking about the House of David team playing outside this room.

I guess I am having problems keeping up with serious replies and posts unrelated to the question.

Im guessing that since he had 77 career HRs that perhaps he held the career HR record for catchers for quite a few years maybe?

That is good enough. He held the career mark for HR's by a catcher longer than any other catcher. Of course we are still counting on Piazza, but he has many years to go.

Four other catchers did that before him including Connie Mack.
