Watching the Reds game tonight I was amazed to see that Brandon Phillips has 20 RBI and no walks this season.
What is the longest any player has gone without getting a single walk?
And a second question- On Phillips' stats on the scoreboard it said his OBP is lower than his BA. How can this be?
I don't know the answer to either question. I'm wondering if anybody does.

sacrifices count towards your OBP not your AVG. It happens now and then.

Ed Walsh went the entire season of 1907 without walking. 156 total plate appearances. Of course he was a pitcher, Craig Robinson holds the modern non positional PA record with 148 PA without walking. While Bobby Clark appeared in 102 games in 1982 and never walked. Though in a lot of those games he never batted.
BP I think it was used to run a contest in which you got to pick players that you think would go the longest into the season without walking.

Actually, sacrifice bunts don't count against either OBP or Batting Average. Sacrifice flies don't count against batting average but do count against OBP.

I know it's premature, but Jeff Francoeur is over halfway to Craig Robinson's record. He already has 88 ABs this season without a free pass.

I think Jose Reyes had over 100 AB last season before taking his first BB.
