OK, I thought Fielder needs his own thread. The kid is amazing. So far he is batting .361 and leads the NL in hits with 30.

That's a jawdropper, we'd all expect him to lead in homers and rbis.

I must say I was worried a little after the first series of the season against the pirates when he was 0-9 with 7 K's. However, he's become what everyone's said of him for awhile: a natural.

And it is a bit interesting he's leading in hits instead of HR's. With Cecil as his father, didn't expect that. :crazy

The biggest suprise to me is Prince's defense. He's looked like a cat (Well, a very big cat) on the field so far, and only has one error.

Does anyone have any articles or even video of Prince hitting balls into the upper deck at Tiger Stadium when he was 12 years old?

Dont expect that much out of Prince in his 1st year man .

No. Prince was very large for a 12 year old. In fact out of high school some teams passed on him because they thought he was obese.

Juiced at 12? Thats just silly. Whatever happened to people that have a natural homerun stroke?

Two home runs in today's game, although one was probably helped a little bit by the wind.

I think Prince had an adult's body and strength at age 12. Look who his father is.

Another huge day today with 2 Homers at Wrigley. Amazing how he's gotten going, even against a full shift he's able to pull the ball by them.

That's one of the better burns I've seen in awhile.

Anyway, I really liked Prince's performance this weekend. Even though he had a few K's, he showed he could still walk when he's Ked out in a game and that's good. Showing maybe he's improving his eye.

What's interesting is that Prince is a completely different hitter than his father.

Just saw an interesting Stat on TV. Prince is hitting .429 vs Left Handed Pitchers. Usually the lefty on lefty advantage would go to the Pitcher. He's going to be something else. Hopefully we can keep him in Milwaukee.

Prince has been named NL Rookie of the Month...He hit .344 with five home runs, 16 RBI's and 15 runs scored.

Congrats Prince!

Here's hoping he'll keep it up and join Chris, DBow, and El Caballo in PIttsburgh this summer.

So far Prince Fielder has been as good as advertised. He's my starting 1B on my fantasy team. I had Dmitri Young starting initially but I dumped him after 10 days and Prince has been raking ever since! :D

The Dude

I think he's been even better than advertised right now.

Most predictions I heard before the season were something like:
-.280 Average
-25 HR's
-80 RBI's
-Bad to fair fielding.

So far he's mashing the ball and his fielding has been pretty good for a man of his stature.

Anyone else watch the clip of Prince Fielder destroying Todd Greene? That's just not fair.

question, Prince Fielder is one of the best hitters this year so far as far as average correct? Didnt he start the season out going 2 for perhaps 20 or something?

The Dude

He went 1 for 11 and has been hot ever since he got that first hit.

The Dude

Another 2 home runs in a game for Prince.
One was 475, only 6 feet short of breaking the record for longest regular season HR at miller.

I was listening to the game last night and Jim Powell couldn't stop talking about how far Prince hit that. Would have loved to see that live!

When is Ned going to flip-flop Prince and Jenkins in the order? Jenkins, tonight notwithstanding, strikes out too much and isn't nearly the hitter Fielder is.

Plus, imagine how many extra fastballs that young man will see with Carlos behind him rather than Koskie.

Oh, the possibilities.

Other than losing to the Reds, Fielder had an impressive night batting. I think he went 3/3! Batting 1.000 is a big help.

I am most amazed by his splits. Most first year hitters have problems adjusting to ML pitching. Lefties usually have particular problems hitting the quality lefthanders in the bigs. Some never make that adjustment. Prince has no issues in that area. He is truely amazing in that respect.

vs. Left .321 .351 .679 1.030
vs. Right .326 .388 .477 .865

I think Prince Fielder was what we needed. It was about time that the Brewers stopped wasting their time and money on Overbay. See, I knew from the start that Fielder was going to be a star. Although he had a shady start, he is crushing the ball...helping me in my fantasy baseball league, I might add.

Hey, so what's wrong with Prince? He is hitting only .217 in June so far. However, he is slugging .550 in June. I guess he needs to make some adjustments.

They happen to every hitter. He'll bounce back after a big game and he probably won't stop for a few mounths.

the league has adjusted to him. now it's time for him to do the same. ironically, his isolated power is getting higher each month.

i think then, it would seem that he's probably gotten a bit pull happy...the increase in ground outs from last year through April would seem to support that as well.

what say you'se that actually get to see him swing?

vonaric

It looks like he's making the adjustment. He's taking what they are giving him now instead of trying to jack everything into the right field porch.
