Have there been any Hall of Famers that never made it to the postseason? I'd especially like to know if there have been any since 1940.
Ernie Banks.
Gaylord Perry, maybe, or was he on the '71 Giants?

Rick Ferrell didn't make it. Neither did his brother Wes Ferrell. That's a pretty good HOF-calibre battery that never got to the playoffs (although it seems around here most people think Wes is the one that should be in the HOF and Rick is the one that shouldn't).
I think something interesting would be who made to the HoF based on posteason play? Maz jumps to my mind right away (Although I think he disserves to be in for just being the best defensive 2B of all time).

Besides the non-player/manager ones I'm not sure.

Luke Appling (played until 1951).
Jim Bunning (played until 1971)
Ferguson Jenkins (played until 1983)
Ralph Kiner (played until 1955)
Ted Lyons (played until 1946)
That's all I can find... five of the six spent significant parts of their careers in one city...

Billy Williams (I had to look it up) played DH for the 1975 A's, eliminated by the Red Sox in the ALCS.
