Gomes...Cantu...Gathright...if I'm not mistaken, none of which were drafted earlier than the 18th round!

I used to envy teams that would would capture "lightening-in-a-bottle": i.e: drafting someone in latter rounds who turn out to be stars (Pujols, Piazza, Oswalt) while we waited on the likes of 1st rounders like Josh Hamilton (I hope 5 years from now I don't add Upton or Niemann to this list)! Jeez!

Albeit 11 games into the season, I see no evidence of sophmore-jinx from Gomes. Cantu has "proven" himself to be REAL as well, and Gathright's speed will always make him an asset (for us or someone, if traded).

We had every right to expect a potential-filled outfield of Crawford, Baldelli and (someday) Young. We had no reason to gush over an "crowded" outfield that may one day include these three PLUS Gomes, Gathright, Hollins.

Trade, anyone?

If they are even close to .500 by July, I'd consider trading some of the offense (Huff might rake in some, plus he's a free agent anyway at the end of the season so you can always get him back in October) for pitching and try to make a run for 82 wins and finally stop being the laughing-stocks of baseball.

I don't get what you are trying to say. I'm saying, if the Rays somehow manage to get anywhere close to .500 by July, I'd start trading for pitching.

Or they can do it right now. If the Cubs are desperate enough for a 1B, they can ship off Travis Lee for some pitching prospect and make either Huff or Wigginton the everyday 1B.

Kazmir is the future my friend, and Jackson..... Johnny Gomes, along with Carl Crawford, Cantu, and then next year or this year add in Delmon Young, wow, add another couple solid pitchers, world series baby. haha

TB, has made some dumb trades over the years..

But a good trade they made was for Kazmir, all they had to give away was Victor Zambrano who is and was average at best.

It would appear the Rays luck hasn't changed. Its still mostly bad. A shortstop who can't play short and won't admit it to himself. The top prospect who could be on the shelf for the rest of the season for tossing a bat at an ump. (Note: Delmon has yet to homer this year) Not to mention a whole lot of pitchers who have no idea where home plate is.

kazmir is a decent starter but lets not get carried away thinking you the rays have the next tom glavine. I doube he will me the next mark burhle any how.

he is a solid 4th starter on a good team, and my improve to be a number 2 pitcher. If he is your ace your in trouble
