When the Rays announced the signing of Wigginton I thought it was a great move. Now two weeks into the season Rays management look like genius's. Wigginton has played wherever he is asked, hit and hit with power. With all the injuries he has been a real find.

Hardly. He's off to a great start and has exceeded my expectations. He's doing better than the guy he replaced in the lineup, Huff. Whether he can do it over an extended period is the question.

He had a good rookie season with the Mets. H was having a good season in his second season 2004 when he was trade to the Pirates in the Benson deal. Last year he started off terrible, was sent to the minors and released in December.Perhaps the Pirates gave up on him to soon.

Ty did have a good rookie season with the Mets... He was having a very good 2nd season with the Mets (.285, 12 hr's, 42 rbi's in 86 games) before he was traded..
Hardly the worst player in the majors...

Wiggington is playing tremendously so far this season. I saw him in person on Sunday and he hit a nice looking homer. If he can keep this production up, Huff wont be missed as much and Burroughs might not be playing for a while.

Well he just had 2 errors in a row in the 9th inning against the Red Sox. I sure hope we dont lose this game, its in our back pocket

I was talking basebally with my supervisor at work, and another guy we work with who's a big fan, the day the Rays picked him up, and I basically said this. I've always thought he was underrated and underappreciated. :)

Two bad games in a row for him, otherwise he has done well.

One of his bad fielding games was as an outfielder. He hit another homer tonight. He is one of those guys like Johnny Gomes, he brings a lot of character and grit to the team.

His fielding overall didn't affect the outcome of the games, his errors came after the Red Sox had scored their 2nd and game winning run(via a fielding error by Gathright) in the second game and didn't lead to a score in the third game...

Where would this team be without Wiggy! 2 more HRs last night, now a career high for him. He carried the team in April and May when Huff and Rocco were out, and now plays wherever they need him to spell a guy for a day off. Best signing we had in the offseason? You bet it is :clapping

Wigginton is a managers dream. First, second, third, even outfield in an emergency.

Another HR last night putting his team in the lead late, off of Curt Schilling no less! I can live with him playing 1B for Travis "Spaceman" Lee, even if his defense is worse than Lee's. He makes up for his defense with his offense, something Lee can't do.

At least for the rest of this season, Lee can come in in the late innings.
