Ok guys, who are your five favorite players who are still active on rosters? List them from greatest liking to fifth favorite.
1. Dontrelle Willis....Love the leg kick, and he just has fun out on the field.
2. Vlad Guererro (cant for the life of me spell it)...... He's, I dont want to say forgotten great players, but he isnt hyped like a Manny Ramirez, not to say Manny doesnt deserve hype becuase he's good.
3.Johnny Gomes....He plays with such emotion, ever see him hit a game winning homerun? Excellent stuff, plus he can hit.
4.David Bell.... I like this guy primerily becuase everyone in Philly seems to loathe him. I always say he is clutch and has his moments.
5.Mark Texeira.....I think I spelled it right. He's a complete moster and I've always liked him on the rangers. MVP someday.

1. Ben Sheets. Most beautiful pitch (curveball) in the major leagues.
2. Albert Pujols. It's just fun to watch him dominate everyone around him.
3. Randy Johnson. Nothing to say but he's always been my favorite pitcher.
4. Ken Griffey Jr. I support all players who are underrated becuase they're overrated (Griffey, Ford, Gomez, etc.)
5. Carlos Lee. El Caballo. What a guy.
6. Ichiro. What can I say, he's the most exciting player in the game.

I like the distinction between our "favorites" and who we think are the best (though some of you seem to be creating a "who do you think are the best 5 players in baseball" list).
1. Jason Varitek
Some others (in no particular order):
Bill Mueller, Vlad Guerrero, Sean Casey, Jake Peavy, Garret Anderson, Orlando Cabrera, Moises Alou and Tim Wakefield.

Hitters:
Ken Griffey Jr.--my favorite player growing up as a kid, the best player of the 90's. Hopefully, he'll stay healthy enough to reach 600
Chipper Jones--just looks like a baseball player (and he switch-hits like Mantle, one of my all-time favorites and another guy who 'looked' like a ballplayer)
Gary Sheffield--he may be surly (at times), but I love watching him at the plate
Albert Pujols--great player-the rright way, and a great guy at that
Derek Jeter--a great leader and winner
Pitchers:
Randy Johnson--intimidation and determination
John Smoltz--one of the best big-game pitchers of this era
Tom Glavine--I've always liked Glavine, and I'm really pulling for him to reach 300

1. Jay Gibbons- I liked him when he first joined the O's. He was had alot of power and potential on a sorry team.
2. Brian Roberts- Pretty much seen his whole career. The best homegrown player the O's have had in a long time.
3. Rocco Baldelli- meet him a BP once, a nice guy that plays pretty hard.
4. Craig Biggio- I admire his hit by pitch record :laugh
5. Mike Mussina- He would probably be a #1 or #2 if he didn't sign with the stankees. Can't blame him for signing with them though, after how Angelos treated him.
6. Barry Zito- Great Italian Pitcher (as you can see every one of my favorite players that not an Oriole is Italian).

Man this is a cool thread......
1. Albert Pujols What can one say? Simply the best player in the game currently and the sweetest swing I've ever seen.
2. Scott Rolen Possibly the finest third baseman ever, certainly the best right now and a class act.
3. Ichiro Suzuki As previously posted, the most exciting player in the majors and one of the best pure hitters I've had the pleasure of seeing.
4. David Wright The next Rolen and really just seems like a neat kid. Already a superstar at 23.
5. Chipper Jones Agree totally with a previous poster. Just looks like a baseball player, and like another of my all-time faves, Mantle, a switch hitter.
Honorable Mention Greg Maddux Easily one of the top ten pitchers of all-time and I love to watch his mastery of the strike zone and opposing hitters.

1. Roger Clemens (I don't count him as retired yet)

1) Jack Wilson- I know it is cliche, but he really does give 110% all the time. A great kid, and should have won a few gold gloves by now
2) Ichiro- Oh, what could have been?! 4,000 hits, I think.
3) Jason Bay- The best player the Pirates have had since that Bonds guy. (Although Brian Giles was ridiculously underrated.)
4) Albert Pujols- Especially when he isn't hitting bombs off my Buccos.
5) David Eckstein- Like Wilson, does a lot with not a whole lot of talent.

1. Varitek=He is serious about the game, he is a gentleman, he protects his pitchers, works hard.
2. Roger Clemens=raw talent with extreme self disclipline and focus. I don't consider him retired; please come to Boston, as the song says
3. Pedro, for his dominant pitching and intensity, his "I own this place attitude" on the mound, his "who can I play a joke on now?" when he is in the dugout.
4. Greg Maddux-I only saw him play once. The guy is not human.
5. Manny=he wanted to give Pedro the money so he would stay. He left uncashed paychecks in his car. He fouls off pitch after pitch. It is always nail biting when he is fielding a hit; will it be an outfield assist, or will he break his head or leg stumbling after it?
6. Ortiz...the man is happy, just happy. And he's signed up for a few more years. :) He's the only one who can restrain Manny from going after a pitcher.

Pedro Martinez - Although I do not like his personality that much, I love the intensity in which he plays.
Jake Peavy - Pure desire to win.

1. Vladdy Guerrero: I think HE's one of the players you can't hate, cause he never does anything to be hated. I also love the fact that even though he's a free swinger, his Obp is still excellent. The game is more exciting with him in it.
2. Barry Bonds: Very different from Vladdy with the press and as a hitter, but I love em for bringing me back on the baseball bandwagon, and I like the giants.
3. Albert Pujols: that shot in the NL playoff series was just too pretty. Seems like he'll be brought up in debates of who the best player ever was when his career is over.
4. Julio Franco: Still having fun at 47. It's more his desire to continue playing than his above average skill at an old age that I love about him.
5. Carlos Delgado: Underrated in my opinion and the fact that he had the courage to sit down for his beliefs (no matter what they were).
5 players is too short for me though after the first four I got a whole bunch a players I wanted to fit in the 5th spot.

Top 5:
1. Ichiro - I might be speaking blasphemy as an A's fan having a division rival player as my fave, but I've liked him since he joined the league.
2. Rich Harden
3. Jake Peavy
4. Mark Prior - if he can shed his health problems
5. Eric Chavez
Bottom 5:
1. Barry Bonds - hated him for a while so not just playing off of recent events, I think tied into the fact that I hate the Giants.
2. Gary Sheffield - for comments made about Ichiro and being an all around jerk.
3. Pay-Rod
4. Jason Giambi
5. Chone Figgins

Here's my favourite players:
1) Albert Pujols...he's unbelievable, no words to describe him
2) Scott Rolen...everytime he makes a defensive play it's a pleasure for baseball fans. He's an outstanding third basemen, he makes some unbelievable plays.
3) Derek Jeter, heart of the New York Yankees. He's got something special, I can't imagine the Yankees without him. It's a franchise player, when you think of Los Angeles Lakers in your mind there's Kobe, when you think of Chicago Bulls nothing else than Jordan...New York Yankees now for me --> Derek Jeter
4) David Eckstein. I was doubtful when the Cards signed him, but after the first game of 2005 regular season he became one of my favourite players. He makes all the little things that a team needs. He's a simple guy, he plays with heart....I like him!
5) Dontrelle Willis....great young pitcher, last year he was unbelievable. I hope he will have the chance to play for a better team than Florida! He deserves it!

I'll split this roster into three position players and two pitchers, so it's kind of like a 25-man roster.
1. Derek Jeter. Does this guy EVER make a mental error? We should be seeing him prominently for the next 40 years or so - maybe Joe Morgan's replacement around 2020. He has TV looks combined with a hundred years of baseball intelligence.
2. Vernon Wells. Plays CF like Joe DiMaggio and Devon White are inspiring him. Hits for power and average. Nice guy, too.
3. Albert Pujols. I can see him around 2015, getting cheered in every opposition park like Cal Ripken used to. Stan Musial was similar, and Pujols is even better than The Man.
4. Greg Maddux. "How can I beat you? Let me count the ways..."
5. Mark Buehrle - keeping the tradition of the left-handed sinkerball alive.

1. Derrek Lee - CHC - I love the cubs so its gotta be DLee
2. Albert Pujols - STL - Great team player
3. Juan Pierre - CHC - Can't beat his speed on the bases
4. Jim Thome - PHI - Likeable person
5. Joe Mauer - MIN - Played for my hometown minor league team (the Quad Cities River Bandits)
