They beat the Nationals on May 3 6-5, and now they're looking to sweep. Tomorrow is against the dreaded Cardinals, which will prove the young Marlins' wits against powerful batting and swift pitching.

June 21st vs Orioles
Loss
WP : Eric Bedard (7-6)
LP : Ricky Nolasco (5-4)
3 stars of the Game :
3. FLA Alfredo Amezaga (2B) : 2 Hits 0 RBIS 0 HRs His 2 Hits lifted his average from .276 to .286 . Alfredo had 2/3 of the Marlins' hits who only compiled to get 3 ( the other one by Reggie Abercrombie ) in the howl game , 2 against starter Eric Bedard and 1 against Orioles closer Chris Ray . This Loss also ended the Marlins' 9 game winning streak .
Comments by Joe Girardi :
"Tonight we had our work cut out for us," Girardi said. "I've always loved Bedard. I loved him when I saw him as a broadcaster, then a bench coach and now a manager. He's got great stuff, and his performance tonight was as good as we've seen. And we've seen some pretty good ones this year."
2. BAL Cory Patterson (CF) : 3 Hits 1 RBI 1 R 1 SB His 3 hits made his average go up 8 poits from .286 to .294 . Cory was alert on the bases stealing a base and scoring a run on a play who should have been a sure out when Marlins' rookie CF Reggie Abercrombie bobled the single coming from Kevin Millar's bat , he ended up going from 1st to H and scoring the Orioles' 3rd run of the night .
1. BAL Erik Bedard (SP) : 8 IP 2 H 12 SO 0 BB All I can say is that Erik Bedard pitched a Jem and shut down the HOT Marlins offense to earn his 7 th Win in 16 starts , he also lowered his ERA from 5.60 to 5.09 .

WIN 31-38 3rd in NL East , 12.5 in back of the division leading Mets .
WP : Randy Messenger (1-3)
LP : Todd Williams (1-3)
3 stars of the Game :
3. BAL Ramon Hernandez (C) : 2 H 2 HR 2 RBIs . Ramon had an outstanding game Yesterday both on Offense and Defense , he hit 2 HRs both solo shots and caught Miguel Cabrera stealing from 1st to 2nd , his 12 HRs also lead all MLB Catchers .
2. FLA Joe Borchard (PH) : 1 H 1 HR 2 RBIs . Borchard is the one to hold responsible for the Marlins' win , with 2 out in the Top of the 9th and 1 on , Borchard homered propelling the Marlins from a 2 Run deficit to tiing the Game . He also set the table for PH Wes Helms who he , also , took Orioles Reliever Chris Ray deep for a solo shot , these 2 HRs kept the Marlins alive and ready to Win their 20th game in their last 27 .
1. FLA Jeremy Hermida (RF) : 4 H 2 R 0 HR 0 RBI . Hermida had his finest game of the season Yesterday going 4/5 against the O's , his 4 Hits lifted his average from a mere .260 to a great .286 .

June 23rd vs NYY
LOSS 6-5 3rd in NL East , 13.5 Games in back of the division leading Mets .
WP : Wang (8-3)
LP : Moehler (5-6)
3 Stars of the Game :
3. FLA Ramirez (SS) : 3 H 0 HR 0 RBIs . Ramirez was given a break yesterday when he was relieved of his duties as the leadoff hitter , Alfredo Amezaga took over for him and did a good job getting 2 Hits in 4 At Bats, Ramirez batted 2nd in the order and produced 3 Hits and came around to score once in the ballgame . Even though having a stellar game on Offense , on defense , Ramirez commited two errors who cost the Marlins a lot , they cost them the early lead and later , the Game .
2. NYY Rodriguez (3B) : 3 H 0 HR 1 RBI . Rodriguez , on the other hand was given a big responsibility batting cleanup for the New York Yankees . Rodriguez responded well getting 3 Hits in 5 plate appearances and driving in his 50th , 51st and 52nd RBIs of the campaign .
1. NYY Jorge Posada (C) : 3 H 0 HR 3 RBIs . Posada also was handed a responsability , used to batting in the 7-8-9 slots of the order , Jorge batted 5th in back of Alex Rodriguez due to the Injury Bug that bothers the New York Yankees. Also like Rodriguez , Posada responded well getting 3 Hits and driving in 3 .
2. and .1 : 6 H 0 HR 4 RBIs . The New York Yankees' 4 and 5 Hitters responded well to their new placement in the Batting Order due to the injuries to their 2 big slugging outfielders , RF Gary Sheffield and LF Hideki Matsui , compiling for 6 Hits and 4 Runs Batted In .

I'm really starting to be intrigued by this team, they will most certainly have the rookie of the year, the only question is which of the five or so great canidates will it be, and they should have NL manager of the year....too bad he probably wont be around next season.

Congratulations Anibal Sanchez on making history. Remember when people thought that Sandy Koufax wasn't going to be any good at first? Well, the Marlins brought hope and avoided the "100 loss season" fans supposed. Just like Koufax, the Marlins strike fear into teams.
