It looks great! Only one thing is wrong though.
The white doesn't bode well with the gray.
Just make the background white too and it'll look much better!

The colors don't matter to me, the thermometer stands out nicely.
And thank's for the change, I nearly choked on my dinner when I saw the new logo!!!:eek: :D

meh...i liked the old one better. it would look cooled if the thermometer was full and there were red lines radiating at the end of it as if it were bursting. But that's just my opinion.

I like it too. But I agree, the thermometer needs to be reading at a higher temperature, since we're all crazy baseball fans here. Too bad the meter couldn't get higher and higher as the season progresses, and explodes at the start of the playoffs or something. But I like it regardless, nice change.

I like it. I love the baseball at the top of the (or rather bottom of the) thermometer. I would like the temp to be higher.

I like racosun's idea for the thermometer having it go higher anbd higher as the season progresses.:D

Top left hand corner of the screen, right above the name of the thread. I like it a lot, it really captures our love of the game, I have it as a background for my computer screen.

a good idea, but the logo has some problems, i think.
the downward positioning is antithetical to a rising (fever) temperature.
also, advancing the red as the season progresses would mean that the logo would be constantly changing, which is also antithetical to what a logo is and is supposed to do. when the 2006 season ends would the red area regress at some point for next season?
positioning the thermometer so that it tilts upwards, and increasing the temperature to a genuine fever reading remedies the problems, i think.
incorporating a baseball is excellant. and i like the selection of, the colors, and sizes of the two typefaces.

I concur with Tony; the baseball in the bulb is cool (a cool fever?), but it would be more effective if the thermometer were flipped to point upward, and the temperature were higher.
Even so, I like it better than the old one; BBF should have a baseball-themed logo.

and the red of the bulb and the tube oughtta be the same.
i realize that the stitching of the ball is red as well, but it all could be worked out.

Probably has the browser not checking for new versions of the page during every visit. In respect to the logo, it was done just for fun by a seriously good friend of mine. He has fallen in love with PhotoShop in a very short time and built that one for us while practicing. I thought it would be nice to include it here - even if only for a short time.

Is it temporary?

But if it were flipped to point upward, it would lead the reader off the page. As it is now, the direction of the thermometre leads your eyes right onto the page. The designer probably knew this and the only alternative would have been to move the logo to right side but that doesn't work either.

it is not the function of the logo to lead the eye to the page. its purpose is to immediately identify the site.
thermometers in real life stand vertically. optimally, ours ought to, as well. because of the space constraints ours was placed at an angle. but, pointing it downward is antithetical to an actual thermometer. also, artistic expression (pointing it downwards) sometimes clashes with the message.
the message is: you have arrived at baseball-fever.
the thermometer ought to point upwards... even at the risk of appearing phallic.

Mour eyes are naturally drawn up to the corner and it's giving me a headach trying to focus on threads.
And besides that, it looks common.

Thank you for the criticism / input / suggestions the first attempt and the kind words after the second attempt. There will be at tiny modification to this one on Monday as the gray did not line up perfectly in the corners and there is a small mark on the right side, but hopefully others enjoy this one more and I appreciate the kind remarks.

what i like:
that changes were made to improve the logo;
the late-70s typeface coupled with the up-to-date script -- a decent nod to the past;
the slightly curved black graduated lines -- subtlety reigns supreme;
the exploded thermometer;
the upwards-angled themometer;
the dripping red;
the smoke;
the overall size
what i don't like:
the dripping charcoal;
the color of the baseball;
the white arched background
overall, this is a winning logo.
well done.

I will modify the arch in the next version as well, that was planned. What do you mean abouve the color of the baseball. Should it be lighter? I wanted the impression that it was in the liquid inside the thermometer. And am I guessing right about the charcoal comment being the one grayish drip?

because the bulb of the thermometer is also the baseball, the baseball, by all measures, oughtta be the same color as the tube.
i ralize that the baseball and its seams and the tube would all be the same color, but a remedy could be for the seams to be white.
yeah, i know that in reality the ball is white and the seams are red, but this is a logo. i played with it, and maybe your man might like the look of the entire thermometer being the samecolor red, the graduated lines black, and the seams of the ball white.
i don't get the dripping charcoal color, though. the interior of the thermoneter is red. no?
