Barry Bonds (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=3918): .167 BA, .464 OBP, .222 SLG. Who'd have thunk it?

Manny Ramirez (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=5132): .205 BA, .340 OBP, .205 SLG.

Jim Edmonds (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=5151): .158 BA, .267 .289 SLG.

Meanwhile, Bronson Arroyo, a pitcher, has 2 jacks, which is one more than all of those 3 combined (Edmonds has the HR).

Anyone else curious as to why those who could be routinely pencilled in to have a .900 or 1.000+ OPS to be hitting below their weight?

Well, not to contradict you, but guys like Pujols, Hafner, Berkman, Wells, Thome and Dunn are doing just fine. ;)

On a side note, I don't know what the heck's gotten into Chris Shelton.

We were all saying the same thing just last year about Brian Roberts, but it seems to me that Shelton is doing even more than Roberts was.

Yes, he is. It can't last at this pace, obviously. If it did, Shelton's head would explode.

Yeah, but if Big Papi doubled, who'd you rather have hitting behind him? Manny or Arroyo? :D

Decisions, decision, decisions ... :p

For some reason, I feel that if I post something else about Shelton, this thread will become solely a Chris Shelton Thread.

Shelton's stats through the first 11 games of 2006:

45 at bats
10 runs
21 hits
5 doubles (career high of 22)
3 triples (tied for career high of 3)
7 home runs (career high of 18)
15 RBI
.467/.489/1.178

Shelton has always hit for power tho, Roberts never had before last season

To address the question asked: Its only the 10th game of the season, not to mention the 3 you named are all getting old... Bonds is over 40, Edmonds is around 37 or 38, and Manny isnt a spring chicken either

Yeah, but wasn't it around 2004 or so that Jeter had about 32 games without a hit? That made news. He's older than those guys, but still.

I wish I could've found more guys, but then again, I can't wish ill on everybody just for a thread.
