Has anyone been noticing all of the recent news articles about *cough* evil *cough* Jeffrey Maier? I've recently received a few forwarded articles from fellow (so called) friend Yankee fans about how Weslyan thinks he's somewhat of a baseball player. Anyone else been following this? 1996 seems like only yesterday to me...

They interviewed him on ESPN(I think) the other day. I heard them saying that he was a pretty good baseball player.I kept waiting for the Interview and it was always "coming up". Do you remember where you were when he stuck his grubby, mustard stained little paws over the fence?

I was watching the game at home...I was just out of college and I was screaming so loud my neighbors came over hahaha. I remember watching that play over and over watching Tony look up....and seeing that little snot nosed brats glove reach out for the ball. Everything after that was down hill....I had gone to the Wild Card game w/ the Indians so I was in a fever...camped out at Camden for the tickets. I was so anti-New York haha
I would love to see him get crushed in the MLB....but, I'd rather him never make it.

Good memory Chelle. It's hard to forget if you're a true fan though. I was at BWI in a lounge. I grew up here but I was living in Dallas at the time. I came home for a Wahington Senators reunion and my brother,A friend and I were watching there.(I had missed my original plane!). What was our outfielder's name? I can picture him but can't remember. I know he didn't play much. Do you really think he would have caught it? It was a pretty good leap.(Bet I Know Your Answer!)

Tony Tarrasco (sp?)...OF COURSE he would have caught it....
Reasons why I think Tony T was going to catch "THE BALL"
1. I saw the play 438290483290 times during that day including slow-mo versions with lines drawn for our benefit to see if it would fall into the glove.
2. It was inside the park and Tony was right at the wall.
3. Davey Johnson was a damn good Skipper and we were on our way....
4. Cause I'm stubborn as hell :)
Seriously though, I think he had a pretty good chance of making that play prior to J.M getting in the action.

So I'm watching Sports Center this morning....and there is a report about Jeff Maier...for a split second I look up and....
There he was!
What is the deal with this kid all over the place? They had a little interview with him and he was complaining how he was a victim because of all the media hype he had back in '96. They reshowed the play and poor Tony going nuts on Rich Garcia.
Ah well. Watch sports center today if you can. Maybe they will replay it.

Thanks for the tip. I'll watch SportsCenter.I'm curious to see what he looks like now. I hope he looks better than Jerry Mathers(Beaver Cleaver) did when he grew up!
